This 1968 Chevelle SS is a real SS 396 car that has been completely updated to perform to today's expectations.  The intent was to keep the classic factory lines and look of the car so it won't look dated 10-20 years from now. I started it 5 years ago and the thought was to improve performance/handling and braking with a more/modern stout chassis.   search led me to the dster Shop where a fully spec'ed Fast Track frame with upgraded 4 wheel disc brakes, nge 9"' rear end with hardened gear, ske coil over shocks, C6 Corvette front steering, stainless brake lines was fabricated. dster Shop also supplied the custom stainless fuel tank with high flow fuel pump and the Forgeline OE1wheels featuring massive 345's on the back and 275's up front. Original styles hubcaps help bring the car back to a simpler look/time. The frame was epoxy coated by Ianotta t ds, FL and I was lucky enough to get one of the last available 638 hp LS9s with Connect and e 6 speed Tremec was installed. These engines are arguably the pinnacle of the LS series, hand assembled and darn near bullet proof. My intent was to leave it as stock as possible and after driving it there's definitely no need for more power.  The build was a collaborative effort between quish Motorsports, nd FL who did much of the remaining fabrication and engineering and Ianotta t ds where Sal and his team tackled the body work, wiring and final assembly.  At the time the body was modified to accept the transmission and the rear was mini tubbed to accommodate a more significant rear tire.  The original paint was pretty good but Sal insisted that he couldn't warranty any work if he didn't know what was beneath the original  paint.  We ended up doing an acid dip to strip everything and it turned out to be worth it as there were some hidden rivets and a rear quarter panel that was better off replaced.  After multiple attempts Sal came up with this  metallic dark green (almost black in the shade) he named 420 Kush. It's been very well received and it's being used on another of his builds. New ntage Air AC system was added and a trosound head unit with Bluetooth complete the creature comforts.   A new vinyl top with very subtle black SS stripes finish the look.  All trim is new, and glass is new. Actually everything is new (excluding side vent windows).  I waited for a year for Digital's new factory looking dash trying to keep as original looking as possible. 1968 is a one off year for many interior parts and last of the side window vents.  The interior was sound deadened and black leather and undstooth upholstery and carpet was done by Pepe's to and Upholstery, .  A fine weave black man wool car was used for the floor and trunk. ttery was moved to the trunk and a JL dio amp and sub are mated to Infinity separates with dome tweeters incorporated into the dash. This car now handles like a modern sports car, and can light up those 345's at will.  This is a very quick car and it'll hurt some feelings.   they say, way too many parts to list  and no expense spared in this build. over $240,000 into this build and insured for as much.
