This 1968 Chevrolet Corvette convertible is powered by a 427ci L36 V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission and is refinished in blue over blue vinyl upholstery. The car was first sold in North Carolina and remained there until 2014, and it was later relocated to Missouri and Maryland. A refurbishment in 2021 included an engine rebuild and the installation of a Baer six-piston big brake kit, 17″ American Racing wheels, front and rear coilovers, and aftermarket sway bars, end links, front control arms, and rear trailing arms. Additional equipment includes a Positraction limited-slip differential, a white convertible soft top, retractable headlights, power steering, an AM/FM radio, power windows, and a cabin heater. This C3 convertible was acquired by the selling dealer in 2023 and is now offered with a partial tank sticker, a reproduction window sticker, service records, spare parts, and a clean Maryland title. The car left the factory finished in International Blue (978) and is said to have been most recently refinished in 2005. Features include a white convertible soft top, retractable headlights, side vents, front and rear chrome bumpers, and dual exhaust outlets. The 17″ American Racing wheels are mounted with 235/55 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires showing 2020 date codes. Braking is handled by a Baer six-piston big brake kit at each corner. The car is equipped with power steering, and a suspension overhaul in April 2021 included the installation of front and rear coilovers as well as aftermarket sway bars, end links, front control arms, and rear trailing arms. The cabin features bucket seats that were reupholstered in blue vinyl under previous ownership as well as color-coordinated door panels and replacement carpets. Amenities include an AM/FM radio, power windows, and a cabin heater. The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,600-rpm redline, while instrumentation found in the center stack includes an analog clock along with displays for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 61k miles. Total mileage is unknown. The 427ci L36 V8 was factory rated at 390 horsepower. A rebuild carried out by InterSport of Ashburn, Virginia, in April 2021, included machining the block and crankshaft, resurfacing the cylinder head, performing a valve job, and replacing the pistons, bearings, and seals. The engine was also refinished. A service invoice totaling $61,972.95 is shown in the gallery below. The engine stamping is shown above. The IL suffix corresponds with a 390-horsepower, 427ci V8 for use with a manual transmission. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and an optional Positraction limited-slip differential. The transmission fluid was changed in April 2021. Long-tube exhaust headers and a custom exhaust system are fitted. Decoding the trim tag reveals: Trim 414 – Medium Blue vinyl upholstery Paint 978 – International Blue A laminated window sticker copy, a partial tank sticker, a binder of records, and spare parts are included in the sale.
