1966 Volkswagen Kombi Light blue and white

This zilian-made 1966 lkswagen Type 2 Kombi (“Bus” to ns) has been restored and converted into a tribute of the 23-window deluxe model. These featured eight skylights in the roof sides and a large, manually operated fabric sunroof and were officially called “Sunroof Deluxe” models. This converted model does not have the sunroof, however, and instead had two luggage racks installed on the roof, along with a ladder for access. It also has the fresh-air ventilation system with opening windshields, as seen in photos. The seller indicates that the paint was done two years ago, and the suspension is said the have been refurbished one year ago. The mileage shown is not claimed to be original.

The engine is indicated as a 1.5-liter, which is the displacement of the original air-cooled OHV flat-four in these vehicles. It would have been rated at 50 horsepower at 4,600 rpm and 69 lb-ft of peak torque by the manufacturer when new. The selling dealer says that the lkswagen’s engine has been rebuilt and has lkswagen Type 2 Kombi got a new life as a conversion to a 23-window, 9-passenger version.
