It presents as a candidate for full restoration.

The dmaster series was powered in 1941 by Buick’s 320-cu.in. OHV inline-eight. With a compression ratio of 7.0:1, the engine received its fuel/air mixture via a two-barrel carburetor and was rated by the manufacturer at 165 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque when new. The engine in this Buick is described as original to the car, with an unknown rebuild history. The engine retains its original 6-volt electrical systems, and reportedly idles smoothly after a cold start. Occasional light smoke is noted. No functional issues with the manual transmission are cited. No powertrain leaks are observed. The engine bay shows moderate grime.

The non-factory blue paint is believed to date from the middle 1950s and shows patina, plus splotchiness and areas of surface rust in numerous locations. The convertible top appears to have good fit, with the seller noting one taped-over rip. The body seals are “definitely aged and not intact.” The seller notes surface rust on the Buick’s dashboard and “some deteriorated metal at the bottom underside of the right rear door.” All body panels appear to be straight except for some waviness in the rockers. The bright trim looks to be complete and in very good unrestored condition. All windows are described in proper working condition, with one crack in the front passenger’s window observed. The dmaster is fitted with a spotlight on the driver’s side. sed on the photos, the underside appears to be generally clean, with some grime and surface corrosion observed.

The blue leather seating surfaces show soiling, deep wear creasing, and some splits, but the front seat is reported to retain full functionality, including an operating center armrest. The rear seat also has an armrest and shows no issues other than creasing. The carpet and floor matting is “intact and somewhat faded.” The instrument panel shows broad-based pitting and other surface corrosion but appears to retain full factory trim and all small controls; their condition is described as “fair.” All instruments are said to be functional except for the factory clock and factory radio, but replacements are included in the sale. The heater is described as inoperative. The bilevel trunk presents as acceptably clean.

The date of the dmaster’s most recent chassis service is unknown, with the seller reporting “no known issues.” The seller is unaware of any problems or damage to the shock absorbers or chassis bushings. “No notable play” from the manual steering is observed. The manual drum brakes have “no known issues” and the parking brake is functional. The wheels and wheel covers show no damage, and the wheel covers are believed to be original. The whitewall tires’ DOT date codes cannot be determined from the photos.

The seller states that this vehicle will be sold on a clean Ohio title in his name. A 1941 Buick shop manual is included in the sale. This 1941 Buick dmaster Convertible Phaeton, reportedly one of just 312 produced, is offered as a complete and functional vehicle and presents as a prime restoration candidate.
