1970 no r Cobra Jet Drag Pack * Extensive storation Completed in 2024!
VIN #0H38J no factory SCJ Drag Pack car. This no was acquired over 10 years ago from a private owner and has underwent an extensive restoration which was completed in mid 2024. This particular no is a heavily optioned and documented Test Car, bought by and shipped back to Building 5 in in late 1969.
Originally Medium d, it was refinished in black and its interior restored to the original Black n Knit nyl. It has factory shaker hood, early production rear window louvers, factory four speed, factory oil cooler (with NOS oil lines), power steering, power front disc brakes, ribbon tachometer, visibility light group, rear window defogger and argent styled steel wheels (the last option not currently with the car).
The car has full documentation from new and includes:
· Original Build Sheet (discovered during restoration)
· Original Window Sticker (with detailed breakdown of options ordered by with receiving clerk’s check marks)
· Original Shipping Sheet (with Accounts ceivable date/time stamp and employee signature)
· Original Lois Eminger Letter (with hand-written note confirming it was an official Test car)
· Kevin y ports (Deluxe and l kdown – reflecting car is a true 1 of 1 due to unique options)
· Original Owners ual
· Numerous chain of ownership documents (copies of title, inspection certificates, registration receipts, registration certificates and repair receipts from 1977 through 2024)
· Full stack of restoration receipts (approximately 1” thick)
I acquired the car in a private sale in early 2). d, these significantly improve the driving attributes and ride quality of the car. The tires provide the look of period correct tires but with the benefit of new radial technology.
The interior of the car has been completely restored with all soft elements (seat covers, door panels, rear seat, carpet, headliner, dash pad and lap belts) covered with new factory correct grained vinyl. All hard parts that could be retained were refinished and or reused as appropriate. In the attached photos you will see that the original door panels, which were retained and reskinned, include the original factory & interior manufacturer markings. Additionally installed are a set of vintage rner gauges to provide more precise monitoring of engine performance (oil, water & voltage).
all this car was restored with the intent to preserve as much of the original car as possible while updating critical wear components to optimize driving reliability and enjoyment. It was not restored with a pure cosmetic focus or with the intent it would only be trailered. It was restored to be driven. Subsequently, I would rate this as a very nice #2 restored show/driver, with a lot of attention to factory details and correctness. Equally as important, it is a unique car with factory provenance and documentation that can be enjoyed as originally intended.
ng the restoration, certain options that the car was ordered with (rear window defogger and visibility light group), were not installed back on the car, but are included in the sale. Additionally, it does come with the original factory aluminum oil cooler adapter, but it is also not currently installed on the car. The Oil er lines are NOS and are connected to the external oil cooler radiator but not connected to the adapter. The reason I don’t have these connected are twofold, 1.) to avoid unnecessary heat cycles on the adapter and oil coolant lines and 2.) I run K&N oil filters and use yal Purple synthetic oil and the motor simply runs better with modern filters, gaskets and oil. Photos attached show the original accessories that come with the car; (steering wheel, visibility light group & toggle switches, rear window defogger, rear leaf spring shackles, oil cooler adapter, NOS oil cooler adapter gaskets and original retractable seat belts)
The reason I am selling the car is while it has been restored to drive and enjoyed on a regular basis, it will sit more than it will be driven and I don’t feel that this is the highest and best use for the car. I have other cars in my collection that I have restored and enjoy regularly so moving this car on to a good new home and owner, is the best thing for it now that it’s been properly restored.
Final note, upon completion of the restoration, lt Herr (formerly of ry ‘s NHRA championship racing team), performed a final test and tune on the car and checked over all critical operating components to ensure optimal drivability. The video contained in this listing of the cold start, slalom test, hard braking and acceleration were performed after that final tune. This was completed in early October 2024.
The car has had a professional valuation performed within the past two weeks and the asking price is supported by that valuation. Lastly, the car is ensured by ggerty for the full replacement value of the post restoration valuation.
