This 1962 Mercedes-Benz 190SL was acquired by the seller in 1982. The 1.9-liter inline-four was rebuilt at that time, and the car is finished in white over red vinyl upholstery. Additional equipment includes a four-speed manual transmission, four-wheel drum brakes, a removable hardtop, a gray soft top, and 13″ steel wheels with body-color hubcaps. This running 190SL project is now offered with the owner’s manual, a spare engine block, and a clean Ohio title in the seller’s name listing the car as a 1963 model. Originally White Gray, the car was refinished prior to the seller’s acquisition. The gray soft top is a replacement, and the seller notes damage on the right-front fender. Close-up photos of that and of the paintwork, trim, and lenses can be found in the gallery. Steel 13″ wheels wear chrome trim rings, hubcaps with body-color accents, and 185/80 Dean Alpha IV Season Radial tires. The car is equipped with a double-wishbone front suspension, a rear swing axle with coil springs, and four-wheel drum brakes. The seller notes the car has been in storage and the brakes should be serviced. The low-back bucket seats have been reupholstered in red vinyl and the door panels and dashboard are trimmed to match. The interior materials have degraded with age, and rust is present in the floorboards and trunk floor. Close-up photos can be viewed in the gallery. Instrumentation includes a 210-km/h speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer as well as gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 28k kilometers (~17k miles), though the total mileage is unknown. The seller notes that Joe Alexander rebuilt the 1.9-liter M121 inline-four in 1982 using a replacement engine block. The removed block is included in the sale. The radiator screen is not installed but is also included, and the seller notes that rust in the battery box was repaired in the 2000s. The car is equipped with a fully synchronized four-speed manual transmission. Rust and corrosion are present across the underside, and additional photos can be found in the gallery. A small-window hardtop, an owner’s manual, an engine block that the seller states was removed from the car in 1982 with the number tag 121.928-10-001549, and spare parts are included in the sale.
