This 1930 Lincoln Model L is one of approximately 100 examples built with convertible roadster coachwork by LeBaron in the final year of L-series production. The car is said to have spent several years in a Denver collection before being purchased by the seller 21 years ago. Finished in brown and green over tan leather, the car is powered by a 385ci L-head V8 with fork-and-blade connecting rods and a single updraft carburetor. Additional features include a three-speed manual transmission, mechanically actuated four-wheel drum brakes, 20” wire wheels, dual side-mount spares, cowl lamps, a spotlight, a tan convertible top with green piping, a rumble seat, and a fold-down luggage rack. This Model L convertible roadster is now offered with two luggage trunks, service records, and a clean Colorado title in the seller’s name. The Model L was introduced in late 1920 as the first automobile built by the Lincoln Motor Company and remained in production throughout the decade after the Ford Motor Company’s 1922 acquisition of Lincoln. Riding on a 136” wheelbase, the model range comprised a variety of open and closed body configurations provided by several American coachbuilders. Updates over the model’s final four years included the introduction of standard four-wheel brakes and a displacement increase. This example features convertible roadster coachwork designed and built by LeBaron of Detroit, Michigan. The body is believed to have been repainted at some point under previous ownership and is finished in brown with green fenders and beltline trim, the latter of which is accented by yellow pinstriping. Features include a louvered hood, green-painted thermostatic radiator shutters, a greyhound radiator cap, cowl lamps, a driver-side spotlight, a tilt-out windshield, dual windshield wipers, a fold-down rear luggage rack, and a tan convertible top with green piping and hinged landau bars. Green-painted 20” wire wheels are wrapped in wide-whitewall tires, as are dual side-mount spares that carry side mirrors. Stopping is handled by mechanically actuated drum brakes at each corner, while suspension incorporates leaf-sprung solid axles at front and rear. The cabin is trimmed in tan leather over a single bench seat as well as over a rumble seat that folds out of a dual-door rear compartment. Color-matched upholstery covers the door panels, dash, and kick panels. Additional features include tan carpeting, roll-up windows, a footrest in the rumble-seat compartment, and rear fender protectors. The wood four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a bright dash panel and an engine-turned instrument bezel hosting a drum-style speedometer, an electric clock, and gauges monitoring oil pressure, coolant temperature, amperage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 98k miles, approximately 2,500 of which have been added under current ownership. The 385ci V8 features a 60° angle between cylinder banks, fork-and-blade connecting rods allowing a shorter crankshaft, side valves, and a single updraft carburetor. Output was factory rated at 90 horsepower. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed manual transmission. Engine number 64382 is stamped on the block and is listed as the car’s identification number on the title. Two trunks accompany the car, including a front-opening trunk containing three suitcases. A leather-wrapped trunk is shown in the photo gallery below, as is a leather blanket roll.
