This 1979 Morgan Plus 8 is a left-hand-drive example that was imported to the US in 1979 by Isis Imports of San Francisco, California, who converted the turbocharged 3.5-liter V8 to utilize propane fuel. The car is finished in Westminster Green with black fenders over brown leather upholstery and equipped with a five-speed manual transmission, rack-and-pinion steering, a PerTronix ignition coil and distributor, driving lights, a brown soft top, removable side curtains, 14″ alloy wheels, and front disc brakes. The car reportedly remained with its original owner until it was acquired by the seller in 2022. This Morgan Plus 8 is now offered with literature, an invoice, a tonneau cover, spare parts, service records, driving gloves and goggles, and a clean Maryland title in the seller’s name. The car is finished in Westminster Green with black fenders and running boards and features a removable brown soft top and matching boot. Additional exterior details include headlight guards, Lumax driving lights, a front badge bar, a leather hood strap, three windshield wipers, a folding windshield, and dual fuel fillers. A tonneau cover and glass side curtains accompany the vehicle. There is a dent in the rear panel, and paint chips are present around the body. Silver-painted 14″ alloy wheels are mounted with older 195/70 Yokohama tires, and a matching spare is housed on the rear of the car. Paint flaking is noted on the right front wheel. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. The car is equipped with rack-and-pinion steering. The cabin houses bucket seats trimmed in brown leather, along with a color-coordinated dash and door panels. An aftermarket rearview mirror is affixed to the windshield. Wear is present on the driver’s seat upholstery, and there are blemishes on the dashboard and door panels. The wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel fronts a Smiths 170-mph speedometer, tachometer, and fuel level gauge, while auxiliary VDO gauges are centrally mounted in the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 18k miles, approximately 700 of which were added under current ownership. The turbocharged 3.5-liter Rover V8 was modified upon importation to the US to utilize propane fuel in order to meet contemporary US emission standards, including installation of an Impco mixer and vaporizer. An Offenhauser intake manifold and an aluminum radiator were also installed under prior ownership. A PerTronix ignition coil and distributor were fitted under current ownership. A California Bureau of Automotive Repair sticker is located in the engine bay. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The clutch master cylinder was reportedly replaced in March 2023. The original invoice from Isis Imports lists the factory colors and equipment, including the Turbo package and a total price of $25,500. An August 1980 issue of Road & Track featuring the car is also included in the sale, along with additional literature, spare parts, service records, and driving goggles and gloves.
