This 1971 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster was purchased by the seller’s mother-in-law in 1976 and acquired by the seller in 1994. It has been repainted in maroon over matching cloth upholstery, and power is supplied by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a black soft top, a louvered clamshell hood, four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ wire wheels, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, an AM/FM radio, and a heater. Work in 2023 reportedly consisted of fluid changes, along with rebuilding the carburetors and replacing the spark plugs, ignition wires, fuel filter, and air filter. This XKE roadster is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, the owner’s manual, a repair manual, spare parts, a car cover, and a clean California title in the seller’s name. Finished from the factory in Sable, the car was repainted Maroon in the early 1980s and was refinished again following repairs after a rear-end accident in 2011. The black soft top features a zip-down rear window, and additional equipment includes wraparound chrome bumpers, a louvered clamshell hood, and dual exhaust outlets. The 15″ wire wheels are secured by earless knock-offs and are mounted with 195/75 Mastercraft tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The cabin features bucket seats that were reupholstered in maroon fabric in the early 1980s, and matching upholstery extends to the armrest, A pillars, and door panels. The seller notes the Philips radio only works for FM frequencies and the cigarette lighter is inoperative. The aftermarket wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 49k miles, approximately 24k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 245 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. The carburetors were reportedly rebuilt in 2023, and the seller states the fluids, spark plugs, ignition wires, fuel filter, and air filter were also replaced. Rust is noted below the battery tray. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The Production Record Trace Certificate lists the factory colors and serial numbers, along with a build date of April 21, 1970.
