This 1951 MG TD was refurbished between 2020 and 2022, with work including rebuilding and fitting a supercharger to the 1,250cc inline-four, installing a five-speed manual transmission, replacing the wood superstructure and the steel body panels, repainting the exterior in gray, and reupholstering the interior with red leather. Further work was comprised of overhauling the suspension, braking, electrical, and fuel systems. The car is equipped with LED headlights, driving lights, dual racing screens, a folding windscreen, windshield wipers, a beige soft top and tonneau cover, a rear luggage rack, a stainless-steel exhaust system, front disc brakes, a banjo-style steering wheel, and lap belts. Previously listed on BaT in August 2023, this MG TD is now offered again with manufacturer’s literature, tools, a spare V-belt, and a clean Louisiana title in the seller’s name. During the refurbishment the steel frame, the wood body and door framing, and the metal body panels were replaced before the exterior was refinished with single-stage gray paint. The front folding windscreen glass was also replaced and the chrome exterior trim was refinished. Equipment includes LED headlights, overrider bumpers, driving lights, dual Brooklands-style racing screens, a tan soft top and half tonneau cover, running boards, low-cut rear-hinged doors, a rear fold-out luggage rack, and a single exhaust outlet. Silver-painted 15″ steel wheels wear chrome MG-logo covers and stainless-steel trim rings, and they are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic 155-series radial tires. A matching spare is mounted on the rear of the car. The suspension was overhauled with replacement front coil and rear leaf springs, Girling shocks, bearings, and bushings. The front brakes were converted to discs and feature slotted and cross-drilled front rotors with Wilwood calipers. The brake master cylinder, rear wheels cylinders, and the brake lines and hoses were also replaced during the refurbishment. The cockpit was reupholstered with red leather on seats, dashboard, and door panels. Black carpeting and a sound-deadening material were installed, and additional equipment consists of lap belts, a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror, and a glove box. The wiper motor is mounted on the windscreen. A replacement banjo-style steering wheel fronts Jaeger instrumentation consisting of a 105-mph speedometer and a tachometer with an inset clock, while auxiliary gauges are mounted in the dashboard fascia. The five-digit odometer shows 207 miles, though true mileage is unknown. The 1,250cc inline-four was fitted with a Moss Motors supercharger and a replacement SU carburetor under current ownership. Additional work included replacing the camshaft, rocker arm assembly, pistons, rings, valves, and bearings as well as the radiator, water pump, wiring harness, and fuel lines. A K&N air cleaner assembly, a Prestolite alternator, an electronic SU fuel pump, a spin-off oil filter, and a gear-reduction starter have also been installed. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Ford-sourced five-speed manual transmission that has been fitted with Hi-Gear Engineering conversion components. The differential was rebuilt, the fuel tank was replaced, and a stainless-steel exhaust system was installed. The underside was sanded and painted black during the refurbishment. Approximately three dozen refurbishment photos are presented in the gallery below. The VIN on the Louisiana title, XPAGTDLHX7961, is a combination of the engine prefix and the car number.
