1970 Dodge Challenger (1970-1974)

This 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T convertible was registered in California in the mid-1970s and was acquired out of storage in California by the seller in 2022. Power is supplied by a 383ci Magnum V8 linked with a four-speed manual transmission, and the car is finished in red over black vinyl upholstery. Work performed under current ownership involved replacing the power-operated white convertible top as well as the carburetor, the brake master cylinder, the power-steering pump, and the fuel tank, sending unit, filter, and lines. Further equipment includes Rallye-style 14″ wheels, power-assisted front disc brakes, hood scoops, power windows, a center console, a pistol-grip shifter, a push-button AM/FM radio, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. This Challenger R/T is now offered with blue California license plates, historic registration documents, partial service records, a Challenger and Barracuda book, and a California title in the seller’s name. The car was finished from the factory in Bright Red (FE5), and the driver-side door was reportedly repainted in 2022. A replacement white convertible top was installed in preparation for the sale. Additional exterior details include dual hood scoops, hood pins, bright trim, front mud guards, and quadruple rectangular exhaust outlets. The rear bumper is misaligned, the driver-side mirror cap is pitted, and the left-side rear quarter window does not seal with the convertible top. Rallye-style 14″ wheels wear bright trim rings and are wrapped in 215/70 Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires that were mounted in August 2023. A space-saver spare is located in the trunk. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. Work under current ownership included replacing the power-steering pump, the brake master cylinder, and the rear brake-shoe springs as well as flushing the brake fluid. The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl and accompanied by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Woodgrain trim accents the gauge-cluster surround and the center console, and additional appointments include power windows, a pistol-grip shifter, and a push-button AM/FM radio. The air conditioning does not blow cold. The wood-rimmed steering wheel is worn and fronts a 150-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline as well as a combination gauge and an inoperative analog clock. The five-digit odometer has rolled over and shows 1,100 miles, and approximately 2,800 miles were driven under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The 383ci Magnum V8 was serviced under current ownership with a replacement carburetor, fuel tank, sending unit, fuel filter, and fuel lines in addition to a coolant flush. The windshield-washer fluid reservoir leaks. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. There is a hole in the muffler. The transmission stamping is shown above.
