This 1951 Ford Custom Deluxe Convertible underwent a refurbishment that was completed circa 2010 and involved the installation of a 350ci Chevrolet V8 and a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission along with a repaint in burgundy over a reupholstered two-tone burgundy and tan interior. Features include a power-operated soft top, power windows, and power-assisted front disc brakes and steering. A Vintage Air climate control, chrome 15″ wheels, a Rochester Quadrajet carburetor, and a dual exhaust system with glasspack mufflers are also equipped. Acquired by the current owner in 2014, this modified Custom Deluxe convertible is now offered at no reserve on dealer consignment with a set of rear fender skirts and a clean Maryland title. The car has been refinished in burgundy and features a tan power-operated soft top with a matching top boot. Brightwork consists of a grille ensemble with bumper bullets, front and rear bumpers with overriders, Unity Model H1 spotlights, dual side mirrors, full-length body-side trim, and quarter-panel spears. The door latches were adjusted in preparation for the sale. Chrome 15″ steel wheels are mounted with Coker Classic whitewall tires, and a full-size blackwall spare is stowed in the upholstered trunk. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes. The cabin features front and rear bench seats upholstered in two-tone burgundy and tan leather with color-coordinated door panels and carpeting. Interior appointments include an aluminum mesh dashboard insert, power windows, a push-button AM radio, a Vintage Air climate control system, and a locking glovebox. A two-spoke steering wheel with a chrome semicircular horn ring fronts a body-color steel dash housing a 100-mph speedometer with inset gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and amperage. An auxiliary Bosch coolant-temperature gauge has been mounted on the left bottom edge of the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 5,500 miles, approximately 3k of which were driven under current ownership. True mileage is unknown. The 350ci Chevrolet V8 breathes through a Rochester Quadrajet carburetor and a dual exhaust system with cast-iron manifolds and glasspack mufflers. The aluminum valve covers wear Ford V8 emblems, and the Oldsmobile/Cadillac-style air cleaner cover is adorned with “51” graphics as well as Ford and Chevrolet logos. Service in preparation for the sale included changing the oil. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission. The car is accompanied by a set of rear fender skirts that do not fit over the currently-mounted wheel-and-tire combination.
