This re-creation of a 1937 Jaguar SS100 was built by Suffolk Sportscars in the UK on order for the seller, who took delivery in 2020. The car incorporates fiberglass coachwork over a steel chassis that was designed in-house by Suffolk to accommodate the powertrain, driveline, and suspension from a donor Jaguar. Finished in metallic gray over gray leather, it is powered by a 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six that breathes through twin SU carburetors and stainless-steel exhaust manifolds. Additional features include an all-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission with electric overdrive, servo-assisted disc brakes concealed behind drum-style covers, four-wheel independent suspension, silver-painted 18” wire wheels, an aluminum hood and front valance, a fold-down windshield ahead of Brooklands-style screens, a central spot lamp, a black canvas soft top, and an aluminum engine-turned dashboard. Configured in right-hand drive, this Suffolk Sportscars SS100 is now offered with photos from its construction, an uninstalled luggage rack, spare tires, a tonneau cover, a car cover, a tool kit, a jack, a pair of driving goggles and other accessories, and a South Carolina title in the seller’s name identifying the car as a 1966 Jaguar SS100. Based in Woodbridge, UK, Suffolk Sportscars crafted fiberglass-bodied SS100 re-creations utilizing drivelines sourced from Jaguar saloons for 20 years before ceasing production in 2020 shortly before delivery of this example. The closed-box-section steel chassis shares the original SS100 model’s 104” wheelbase, while replica coachwork combines a fiberglass body and fenders with a louvered aluminum hood panel. This example is finished in metallic gray and features options including a louvered aluminum front valance and simulated fender rivets. Additional features include reproduction Lucas QK596 10.5” headlights behind mesh stone guards, a Lucas 9” Flamethrower central spot lamp, leather hood straps, a fold-down full-length windshield ahead of twin Brooklands-style adjustable aeroscreens, and simulated Hartford front friction dampers. A black canvas soft top can be stowed under a matching boot. Silver-painted wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs debossed with the SS logo and are wrapped in 5.50-18 Blockey tires, as is a matching spare mounted at the rear of the car. Servo-assisted disc brakes utilize ventilated rotors up front and solid rear rotors, the latter of which are mounted inboard. Covers are in place behind each wheel to simulate the appearance of drum brakes. Steering is handled via rack and pinion. The right-hand-drive cockpit houses bucket seats trimmed in gray leather with pale gray piping, while matching upholstery covers the door panels and color-keyed Wilton wool carpeting bound in leather lines the floors, seatbacks, and rear shelf. Interior features include inertia-reel shoulder belts, door pockets, leather-wrapped door pull straps, and a passenger-side grab handle. The four-spoke steering wheels sits ahead of an engine-turned dash that houses a 120-mph speedometer, a 5k-rpm tachometer, and gauges monitoring oil pressure, fuel level, amperage, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 600 miles. The 4.2-liter XK inline-six was overhauled prior to installation during the car’s construction with a balanced crankshaft, a lightened flywheel, and a gas-flowed large-valve cylinder head. Additional features include twin SU carburetors and stainless-steel exhaust headers leading to dual outlet pipes. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission with electric overdrive. Suspension comprises an independent rear setup with quad adjustable coilover shock absorbers and a double-wishbone front arrangement with single adjustable coilovers on each side.
