This Morgan Plus 4 Drophead Coupe is said to have been acquired by its former owner in 1971 out of New York, where it was driven for just over a year before being placed into long-term storage for several decades. The car underwent a refurbishment in the late 2010s that involved replacing the chassis, repairing the wood frame, and refinishing the bodywork in ivory with black fenders. Overhauls of the Triumph-sourced 1,991cc inline-four, dual SU carburetors, and front suspension were also completed, and a front disc brake conversion was carried out. Morgan produced fewer than 450 examples of the Plus 4 in drophead-coupe form, which is distinguished by taller, rear-hinged doors as well as a fixed windshield. The seller states that the wooden frame of this example was repaired, while the steel chassis was replaced prior to the bodywork receiving a repaint in ivory with black fenders. A number of chrome trim pieces were either refinished or replaced, and a replacement bonnet, cowl, and grille are said to have been sourced from Vintage Sheet Metal in the UK. Heat insulation is said to have been adhered to the interior surfaces, and refinished wood trim adorns the A-pillars, dashboard, and door caps. A banjo-style steering wheel is wrapped in black paracord and fronts overhauled instrumentation that includes a replacement 110-mph speedometer along with a tachometer and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 186 miles, and total mileage is unknown. The Triumph-sourced 1,991cc inline-four was reportedly overhauled during the refurbishment with replacement pistons and sleeves as well as an uprated rear main seal. The dual SU carburetors were rebuilt and polished, and an aluminum radiator, a cowl box with an air scoop, a high-torque starter, and electronic ignition components were installed. Alternator and spin-on oil filter conversions were carried out, while the water and fuel pumps were replaced along with the wiring harness. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The clutch assembly was replaced as part of the refurbishment, and a stainless-steel muffler and tailpipe were also installed at that time.
