This 1947 Ford Super Deluxe convertible was refurbished in the late 1980s by Walt Johnsen of The Auto Shop in Bainbridge Island, Washington. It is powered by a 239ci flathead V8 linked with a three-speed manual transmission and is finished in maroon over red leather and beige cloth upholstery. Equipment includes a tan convertible top, chrome bumpers and trim, body-color 16” steel wheels, polished hubcaps, whitewall tires, driving lights, a heater, and a push-button AM radio. The selling dealer acquired the car in April 2024 from a family that had owned the vehicle since approximately 1989. This Super Deluxe is now offered with an owner’s manual, partial service records, a car cover, and a clean Oregon title. The car was repainted in maroon during the aforementioned refurbishment, and the chrome was replated and the glass and the weatherstripping were replaced. The replacement tan convertible top has a zip-down rear window. The grille, bumpers, window surrounds, and side trim are finished in chrome. Other features include a two-piece windshield, yellow driving lights, a driver-side mirror, rear-fender guards, and a downturned exhaust tip. Body-color 16″ wheels feature white pinstripes and polished hubcaps, and they are mounted with Firestone Deluxe Champion whitewall tires measuring 6.00-16. The car was factory equipped with front and rear transverse leaf springs, and braking is provided by hydraulic front and rear drums. The cabin features front and rear bench seats that are said to have been reupholstered in red leather and beige cloth by Silverdale Upholstery during the refurbishment. A woodgrain-style finish accents the dashboard and the door caps, and interior amenities include door armrests, two sun visors, a heater, vent windows, and a push-button AM radio. The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and fronts a 100-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, battery status, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 2,300 miles. Total mileage is unknown. The gauges were rebuilt and the odometer was reset to zero during the refurbishment. The temperature gauge does not work. The 239ci flathead V8 was factory rated at 100 horsepower and was rebuilt during the refurbishment, and the wiring was replaced. The selling dealer replaced the spark plugs and points and also changed the oil and filter in preparation for the sale. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission that was rebuilt during the refurbishment.
