This 1939 Ford Deluxe convertible coupe was acquired by the seller out of Colorado in 2017 and subsequently refurbished and modified during a multi-year build that was completed earlier this year. A 6.2-liter LS376 V8 was installed along with a 4L65E four-speed automatic transmission and a Moser 9” rear end, and the body was stripped and refinished in black before being mounted to a custom-fabricated frame with a Mustang II-style independent front suspension, a rear four-link setup, adjustable coilovers, and four-wheel disc brakes. The interior was customized with black leather upholstery as well as a Vintage Air climate control system, Lokar shifter, concealed sound system, and Classic Instruments gauges. Additional equipment includes a black soft top, a rumble seat, power rack-and-pinion steering, and a dual exhaust system. This Ford Deluxe is now offered with build documentation and photos as well as a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name. The steel body was stripped and panels were repaired or replaced before it was repainted in black and mounted to a Scott’s Hotrods tubular steel frame. The color-keyed soft top was sourced from Sid Chavers, the exterior trim was re-plated in chrome, and the glass and weatherstripping were also replaced. Details include a split windshield, running boards, and LED taillights. Body-color 16” steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps and trim rings and are mounted with 205/60 front and 235/60 rear Michelin Defender tires. The suspension features a Mustang II setup with tubular control arms up front, a four-link rear setup with a panhard bar out back, and adjustable coilovers at all four corners. The car is further equipped with power rack-and-pinion steering and four-wheel disc brakes with Wilwood calipers and drilled and slotted rotors all around. Interior customization performed at BW Upholstery of Scottsdale, Arizona, involved upholstering the split bench seat and door panels in black leather, adding a hinged cover to conceal the Vintage Air climate control system panel, and fabricating an aluminum enclosure for the blower motor assembly. A wood structure was built for the rear bulkhead and incorporates 3D-printed speaker bezels, ambient lighting, and a blade-style American Autowire fuse panel. Additional appointments include a Lokar shifter, squareweave carpets, and a concealed sound system with a JL Audio subwoofer mounted under the driver’s seat. The banjo-style steering wheel fronts a combination gauge and a 100-mph speedometer with an inset tachometer that were built by Classic Instruments and mimic the appearance of the factory units. The five-digit odometer shows 367 miles, which is said to represent the distance added since completion of the build. The rumble seat area is trimmed to match the cabin. The 6.2-liter LS376 V8 crate engine wears body-color ignition coil covers and utilizes a custom air intake. The PRC aluminum radiator is cooled by an electric puller fan, and the dual exhaust system features Flowmaster mufflers. The wiring loom was also replaced during the build. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4L65E four-speed automatic transmission and a Moser 9” rear end. Photos taken at various stages of the build are presented in the gallery. The car is titled under Arizona Assigned Identification Number AZ395283, and the title describes the car as a 1939 Ford “recon.”
