This 1940 Ford Deluxe is one of 23,704 convertible coupes produced for the model year and was purchased by the current owner in 2012. The car is finished in burgundy over brown upholstery, and power comes from a replacement 24-stud flathead V8 paired with a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission. Features include triple Stromberg 97 carburetors, an Offenhauser intake manifold and cylinder heads, a 12-volt electrical system, an aluminum radiator, Fenton headers, a dual exhaust, front disc brakes, a tan soft top, turn signals, an AM radio, and a heater. This Model 01A Deluxe is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with service records and clean Connecticut registration. The body is finished in burgundy and features chrome bumpers with overriders, red-accented Ford Deluxe hood emblems, running boards, dual side-view mirrors, turn signals, a tan soft top, chevron taillights, and chrome exhaust tips. Body-color steel wheels wear chrome Ford Deluxe hubcaps and trim rings, and they are mounted with BFGoodrich Silvertown Radial whitewall tires. The 01A Deluxe rode on a 112″ wheelbase and featured front and rear transverse leaf springs. Stopping power is provided by hydraulically assisted front discs and rear drums with a dual-circuit master cylinder. The cabin features front and rear bench seats trimmed in brown upholstery along with color-matched door panels. A brown rubber mat covers the front floors while brown carpets are fitted in the rear. Additional equipment includes an AM radio, a heater, a locking glovebox with an inset clock, and front lap belts. The two-tone steering wheel fronts a painted steel dashboard housing a 100-mph sweep speedometer and auxiliary gauges. A trio of Sunpro gauges are mounted below the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 14k miles, approximately 10k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The replacement 24-stud flathead V8 was installed under previous ownership, and it features triple Stromberg 97 carburetors as well as an Offenhauser intake manifold and finned cylinder heads. A 12-volt electrical system conversion has also been performed, an aluminum radiator is installed. An oil drip is noted. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission. The dual exhaust system features Fenton headers and chrome tips. The reproduction body plate is presented above. The car is registered by its body number, 19A811536. The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for vehicles of its age. It is being sold on its Connecticut registration.
