1971 BMW E9 Coupe

This 1971 BMW 3.0CS is a European-market example that was delivered new in Germany and underwent a multi-year refurbishment in Canada that was completed in 2010. The car was then imported to the United Kingdom in 2015 and acquired by the current owner in 2019. Refurbishment work included installing a 3.4-liter M30B35 inline-six mated to a five-speed manual transmission, refinishing the exterior in Ceylon Gold, reupholstering the interior in brown leather, and refreshing the suspension and braking systems. Features include a sunroof, 16″ Alpina wheels, power windows, a Becker AM/FM radio, and a Powerflow stainless-steel cat-back exhaust. Service in preparation for the sale included replacing the front brakes as well as components for the fuel and ignition systems. This E9 is now offered in the United Kingdom by the seller on behalf of the current owner with refurbishment invoices and photos and a V5C registration document. The seller states that the body was refinished in Ceylon Gold following the replacement of the floor pans, rockers, and rear quarter panels. Additional work included refreshing the bright trim, seals, and weatherstripping in addition to replacing the bumpers. Exterior details include a sunroof, 3.0CS badging, a driver-side mirror, and quad headlights. Service in 2019 included repairing rust spots and a damaged wheel arch. Noted flaws include trim fitment issues, two paint chips, and a scratch. Multi-spoke 16″ Alpina wheels wear 205/55 Continental ExtremeContact tires. Refurbishment work included replacing the sway bars, control arms, tie rods, wishbones, and brake components as well as installing stainless-steel brake lines. The front brake pads and rotors were replaced in preparation for the sale. The cabin was refreshed as part of the 2010 refurbishment, and work included re-trimming the front bucket seats, rear bench, and door panels in brown leather as well as installing a tan headliner and carpeting. Additional appointments include wood trim on the dashboard and doors, a wood shift knob, power windows, and a Becker AM/FM radio. The rear window motors were rebuilt in preparation for the sale. Areas of the headliner are sagging. The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a 240-km/h speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 51k kilometers (~32k miles). Total mileage is unknown. Power is provided by a fuel-injected 3.4-liter M30B35 inline-six that was installed during the refurbishment. Additional work included replacing the radiator, idle control valve, fuel injectors, engine mounts, and various seals and gaskets. Service in preparation for the sale included replacing the fuel pump, coolant temperature sensors, distributor cap, rotor arm, and spark plugs as well as the ignition coil and leads. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. A Powerflow stainless-steel cat-back exhaust system was installed in August 2018.
