This 1957 MGA Mk1 was raced for 25 years with VSCCA and includes log books from that time. The current seller purchased the car 2 years ago and had the car mechanically rebuilt to conform with the 1967 SCCA General Competition Rules. This is the third MGA race car the seller has owned and race prepped, and the preparation on this car was performed by the specialists at Huffaker Engineering. The car is ready to race, with final adjustments completed less than two weeks ago, but the seller has opted to sell this car to fund his other two vintage racers. The car is located at Sears Point Raceway in Sonoma, CA and the owner believes that with the right driver lap times at Sears would likely be in the 2:05 range as currently configured. The exterior looks good in dark blue but has the typical rock chips and other wear expected on a race car. The seller calls the exterior bodywork a 5 or 6 out of 10. Wheels are Minator 15″ x 5.5″ alloys with knock offs and Hoosier Vintage TD tires with 2 sessions on them. The interior retains an appealing vintage feel with a leather wrapped Moto-Lita steering wheel and the original dash still in place. The original switchgear and gauges are augmented with an aftermarket tachometer. A large convex mirror is installed for track visibility, and the windscreen is a Ragtops and Roadsters replica of the Lexan competition screen. A new 16″ Vintage 31 lightweight aluminum seat is installed with a new Schroth 6-point racing harness. The roll bar is also new. The car has been completely mechanically rebuilt to a high standard, using the following components: Fresh Huffaker rebuilt engine with only break-in and test time Huffaker oil pan Accusump 3 main bearing 1800cc engine bored .040 over – approx. 130 hp Billet crankshaft 252 mild race cam Huffaker custom header New Huffaker 1.5″ SU carburetors New intake manifold New Moss HP clutch Electronic distributor Aluminum radiator New Porterfield brake pads 3 synchro gear box with Jack Knight straight cut gear set Huffaker rebuilt suspension with all new bushings Limited slip differential with 4:55 gears New adjustable lever shocks from Peter Caldwell at World Wide Imports MGB Front end trunnions Corner balanced The undercarriage was refurbished as part of the racing prep as well. The car is sold with a VSCCA logbook documenting its racing history and receipts for over $14k from Huffaker Engineering for the recent refurbishment. This is a very nice looking turn-key vintage racer, expertly prepared and ready for the upcoming season. Filed under: mg, mg a
