This 1968 Chevrolet Corvette convertible was refurbished from 2015 to 2017 and is powered by a rebuilt 427ci L36 V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The car is refinished in Rally Red over red leather upholstery, and equipment includes a white convertible soft top, a removable hardtop, retractable headlights, 15″ steel wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, an AM/FM radio, and a cabin heater. This C3 convertible was acquired by the current owner in 2008 and is now offered on dealer consignment with the owner’s manual, service records, and a clean Illinois title. The car was factory-finished in Rally Red and refinished in the same color in 2016. Features include a white convertible soft top, a removable hardtop, retractable headlights, chrome bumpers, side vents, and dual exhaust outlets. Wear is noted on the soft top and close-up exterior photos are shown in the gallery. The 15″ steel wheels wear turbine-style covers and are mounted with 215/70 BFGoodrich Silvertown Radial redline tires. Braking is handled by power-assisted discs at each corner, and the rear rotors, trailing arms, and springs were replaced in 2015. The car is equipped with power steering, and the steering box was replaced in 2015. The interior was re-dyed in 2016 and features bucket seats upholstered in red leather as well as color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Amenities include an AM/FM radio, crank-operated windows, and a cabin heater. The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,600-rpm redline, while instrumentation found in the center stack includes an analog clock along with displays for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 19k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership. The 427ci L36 V8 was factory rated at 390 horsepower. The four-barrel carburetor and the engine were rebuilt in 2017. Engine work involved boring and honing the block and installing a Comp Cams camshaft, KB pistons, Federal .030″-over piston rings, and Clevite main and rod bearings. Per the seller, approximately 1,200 miles have been driven since the rebuild. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The differential was rebuilt in 2015. The engine stamping is shown above. Decoding the trim tag reveals: Date H27 – March 27, 1968 production date Trim 408 – Red leather upholstery Paint 974 – Rally Red Filed under: c3
