Among early Mopar muscle cars, this 1963 Plymouth Sport Fury Convertible is unquestionably rare. According to Galen Govier documentation, it’s one of only 35 Sport Fury Convertibles ordered for the year with the 426 Max Wedge engine — and of them, it’s also one of a mere 15 ordered with a manual transmission. There are only 169 miles on its rotisserie-type restoration and, according to the selling dealer, the car is in “very nice show quality.” Documentation includes a copy of the original Chrysler IBM card outlining its options and it was reportedly featured in magazines including Muscle Car Review and Mopar Action

  • The engine is a correctly detailed and genuine 426 Max Wedge, dated Nov. 30, 1962.
  • With 11.1:1 compression, the 426-cu.in. OHV V8 was rated at 415 horsepower.
  • According to the seller, the engine in this car has correct date-coded Carter AFB carburetors.
  • The engine reportedly starts and runs well, with no smoke. It idles well after a brief warm-up.
  • The exhaust system has cut-outs for drag racing.
  • Backing the Max Wedge engine is a T-85 heavy-duty three-speed manual transmission.
  • It reportedly shifts “great” through all the gears, using the correct factory shifter.
  • The exterior is said to be in “great condition,” with no evidence of rust or repairs.
  • The Ermine White paintwork is reportedly very good, with “no mentionable blemishes.”
  • All the glass and seals are also said to be very good, and the power top operates normally.
