1948 Chrysler Windsor Convertible. A beautiful restoration with excellent body, paint and chrome. Has won plaques and trophies for “best stock” at local shows. Odometer shows just over 50,000 miles.
My father has owned this car for 8 years and selling it only because he has too many cars for a man in his 80’s. It was restored about 20 years ago and then owned by Tony Bill, the Hollywood movie producer. The car has beautiful paint and chrome and almost perfect stainless trim. There are no signs of rust or major restoration work. We believe it is an original California car.
Everything is or looks original except for the radial tires, seat belts, front disc brakes (original drum brakes are in a box) and generator that is now an alternator in a generator casing.
The car starts easily cold or hot, runs smoothly with a lot of torque and shifts just like a Fluid Drive car is supposed to. The engine and transmission were rebuilt during the restoration. Recent service work includes a tune up, fluid changes and heavy duty battery cables (this helps the 6 volt starter motor spin quickly). It needs no maintenance.
This 1948 car rides better than most of the 1950’s and 1960’s cars in his collection. It drives as he remembers the 1950 Chrysler my grandfather had back then.
The interior is beautiful and looks like the original materials, including the hairy carpet. The convertible top operates smoothly and fast. The top is a classic tan cloth material with no stains, tears or signs of wear. A beautiful boot quickly snaps into place when you drop the top.
Chrysler was a technically advanced car in 1948 and this one has the dual heaters, factory turn signals, driver side spot light, electric wipers reliable, no slip Fluid Drive Transmission and beautiful sounding dual trumpet horns. Owners and Service manuals included.
