This Chrysler special is a custom-bodied baquet that was reportedly built between the late 1960s and early 1970s in Argentina using a 1929 Chrysler chassis. The car is said to have undergone a refurbishment and preparation for racing between 2015 and 2016 before being acquired by the selling dealer. Featuring aluminum bodywork finished in red, the car is powered by a twin-carbureted Dodge L-head inline-six that is said to have been installed in 2018. Additional features include a three-speed manual transmission, four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes, front Hartford friction shock absorbers, hydraulic rear shock absorbers, high-exit sidepipe exhaust, bucket seats upholstered in tan, Schroth harnesses, and an engine-turned dash fascia. This Chrysler special is now offered in Sint-Truiden, Belgium, with an FIA Historical Passport, invoices from 2016-to 2018, and Belgian registration. The aluminum body is said to have been fabricated approximately 50 years ago in Argentina and underwent a refurbishment under previous ownership that included a repaint in its current shade of red. Styling includes a louvered hood with leather hold-down straps, Marchal headlights, cycle-style fenders, twin Brooklands-style windscreens, a Monza-style fuel filler, and a winged radiator cap. Body-color wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs, and a matching spare is held at the left side of the cowl by leather straps. Stopping is handled by hydraulic drum brakes that were freshened in 2018. Suspension incorporates leaf-sprung solid axles at front and rear, with Hartford friction shock absorbers utilized up front and hydraulic lever-arm shocks at the rear. The cockpit is configured in right-hand drive and houses a pair of bucket seats that are trimmed in tan upholstery and equipped with Schroth four-point harnesses. Additional features include a central shifter, a cowl-mounted rearview mirror, and an OMP fire extinguisher. The wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of a machine-turned dash fascia that houses Stewart-Warner instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges monitoring oil pressure, fuel level, voltage, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 136 miles, with total mileage unknown. The Dodge inline-six is said to have been prepared and installed in 2018 and features side valves, twin Facet downdraft carburetors, and a six-into-one exhaust header. Work in 2018 also included cleaning and adjustment of the carburetors, radiator repair, and replacement of the battery. Additional features include a generator, an electric starter, and an electric cooling fan. Engine number M26*2052* is stamped on the engine pad and can be seen in the photo gallery below. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed manual transmission, and the clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing were replaced in 2018, at which time the flywheel was resurfaced. The FIA Historic Passport is dated September 2022 and lists the car as a 1929 Chrysler with an engine displacement of 4.0 liters. The car is registered in a country that does not issue titles for vehicles. It is being sold on its registration.
