This 1947 Hudson Super Six convertible was acquired out of Connecticut by the current owner’s grandfather in the mid-1980s, and a subsequent multi-year refurbishment in Nebraska is said to have been completed around 1990. The current owner acquired the car about ten years ago. Repainted in maroon over maroon upholstery, the vehicle is powered by a 212ci inline-six mated to a three-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a tan soft top, body-color 15″ steel wheels, chrome hubcaps, chrome bumpers, driving lights, cowl-mounted spotlights, a Carter carburetor, and a clock. This Super Six is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with refurbishment photos, service records, a mechanical procedure manual, and a clean Idaho title in the owner’s name. During the aforementioned refurbishment, the body was removed from the frame and repainted in maroon. Exterior details include a tan soft top, chrome bumpers with overriders, yellow driving lights, cowl-mounted spotlights, dual side mirrors, vent windows, black rear-fender stone guards, bright trim, and a single exhaust outlet with a chrome finisher. The driver-side spotlight is inoperable and does not rotate/swivel properly. Body-color 15″ steel wheels wearing bright hubcaps and trim rings are mounted with 7.00-15 BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall tires. Braking is handled by drums at all four corners. The interior is equipped with front and rear bench seating trimmed in maroon upholstery. Appointments include color-coordinated door panels, chrome trim on the door caps, a black rubber front floor liner, tan rear carpeting, an analog clock, a cabin heater, and hand-crank side windows. The handle controlling the wing window on the driver side is stripped or disconnected, the switch for the windshield wipers is stripped, and the latch for the passenger door requires adjustment. A two-spoke steering wheel fronts a column-mounted shifter and a woodgrain-style dashboard housing a 100-mph speedometer and gauges measuring coolant temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 70k miles, and less than 100 miles have been added under current ownership. The speedometer and the odometer are non-functional, and true mileage is unknown. The 212ci inline-six is fed by a single Carter carburetor, and peak output was rated at 102 horsepower when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission. The oil was changed most recently in 2020, and a leak is noted from the oil-pan gasket. Images showing the condition of the underside are presented in the gallery below. Photos documenting various stages of the refurbishment will accompany the vehicle. A replacement data plate has been installed on the car, and the removed plate is shown above.
