This 1948 Chrysler Town & Country convertible is said to have been purchased new in San Diego, California, and spent many years in Hawaii before being acquired in Washington in 2009 by the current owner. Finished in green with wood paneling over green leather and beige cloth upholstery, the car is powered by a 323ci inline-eight paired with a Fluid Drive semi-automatic transmission. Equipment includes a power-operated green convertible top, chrome hubcaps and trim rings, whitewall tires, reverse lights, a radio, a clock, and a heater. The chrome, paint, interior, top, and engine bay reportedly have been refurbished under current ownership. This C39 Town & Country is now offered on dealer consignment in Arizona with a Washington title that lists the model year as 1947. Delivered from the factory in Polo Green (5), the car is said to have been repainted under current ownership, and the power-operated green Haartz convertible top was replaced and the chrome was refurbished. Features include ash-wood-framed mahogany veneer panels as well as chrome bumpers, dual side mirrors, reverse lights, a central brake light, and a green top boot. The mahogany inserts and the door handles have not been refurbished, and imperfections are pictured in the gallery below. Steel 15″ wheels are augmented by Chrysler-branded chrome hubcaps and trim rings and wrapped in 8.20-15 Firestone Deluxe Champion whitewall tires; a spare is stored in the trunk. The C39 Town & Country featured an independent front suspension with coil springs as well as a live rear axle with semi-elliptical leaf springs. Stopping power is provided by hydraulically actuated drums at all four corners. The bench seating surfaces are trimmed in green leather and beige cloth upholstery. Appointments include a radio, a clock, a Comfort Master heater, courtesy lights, green carpeting, and beige woven floor mats. Wear is evident on the dashboard. The green three-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames a 110-mph speedometer plus gauges for water temperature, amperage, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 99k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership. The 323.5ci Spitfire L-head inline-eight features five main bearings and was factory rated at 135 horsepower. The engine compartment has been detailed. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Fluid Drive semi-automatic transmission. Chassis components have been cleaned and repainted.
