THE MARK IV DROPHEAD COUPÉ

Only 376 left-hand drive examples of Jaguar’s IV 3½-liter model were built in the short production run spanning the period December 1947 to September 1948. The post-war Jaguars were similar in almost all respects to their pre-war counterparts and mechanical variations were essentially only to compression ratio and gearing. The 3½-litre model boasted a top speed of 91mph and could return 18mpg fuel economy. The phead Coupé cars were long awaited since initial post-war Jaguar production had been restricted to saloon cars. The new dropheads became highly sought after by the home and overseas markets even though the IV 3½-litre car was somewhat expensive at £1,263.

This numbers matching left-hand drive Mk IV phead is attractively painted in medium sage metallic with superb beige leather upholstery, wool carpets and excellent walnut door trim and dashboard. Driving equipment includes lighting, twin SU carburetors, chrome wire wheels and a complete tool kit fitted in the trunk lid.

Originally sold by fman Jaguar of New in Sept 1948, in 1981 nie weit of British purchased the car from a owner.  He carried out the exquisite 15 year frame off restoration from 1986 until June 2001.
