Mallalieu Motor Car Company was founded by Derry Mallalieu, an enthusiast of racing and vintage cars.
Derry built his first MK VI-based Special in America for his own use, but after building 2 similar cars by special request, he decided to return to the UK to build the cars commercially. He set up a small engineering workshop. Derry died in 1975 and Pauline Mallalieu and her husband, Noel Hodson, took over the business. Mallalieu produced several two- and four-seat open tourers.
Models include: Durham, Barchetta, Mercia and finally the Oxford.
The finished cars were priced at 45,000 GBP. This was almost as expensive as some new Bentley saloons produced at the Crewe plant. Mallalieu Engineering went bankrupt in October 1980.
The car offered is THE Oxford prototype. The body is all aluminum. Mallalieu produced only 7 Oxfords.
The “donor car” was a black sedan Bentley MK VI built in December 1. The current owner bought the car from Velthuizen in 2018.
