If you are looking for a fantastic example of a vintage car from the 1950’s; and you want a car in excellent condition for a great low price, then this is the car for you! Behold this gorgeous 1951 . I can’t wait to tell you all about it, so read on!
On the outside of the car, you see a gorgeous coat of not-original black paint. The paint is in great condition except for the missing spot under the fuel cap, the slight bubbling at the bottom of the doors, and the very small chips at the top of the trunk lid. The chrome, which is complete and attached to the car, is gorgeous on the bumpers, mud guards, and vehicle brightwork; including all of the chrome around the windows. The chrome on the door handles and grill is mildly pitted. There are no dents or other damage to the body at all. The hubcaps are correct and shiny. The glass is complete and free of scratches, pits, glazing or cracks.
ide the car, you will find upholstery that looks like it was put in the car yesterday. I am sure looking at the upholstery that this is not original to the car; however, I have no proof of this either way. gardless, the upholstery is period correct and looks amazing: no rips, tears, fading, sagging, burns, or other blemishes. for the door panels and headliner. The carpet is a faded green carpet that is much older than the upholstery. in, most likely not original, but I have no proof. The gauges shine clearly and the gauge glass is clean and clear. nt on the dash is very good, but there is some missing black paint on the left side of the gauge cluster. All dash chrome is in perfect condition. The only negatives to say about the interior of the car is that the logo on the steering wheel cap is badly faded and the plastic window crank knob is missing on the passenger front window.
ide the engine you will find an engine bay that was cleaned and detailed: the fenders and firewall, the engine block, the radiator, and the engine components. Run your fingers over the engine parts and your fingers will show no dirt, dust, grease or oil. The trunk features a full-size spare tire with a period-correct hubcap, and the original jack for the car with the instruction tag still attached to it. The trunk; as well as the undercarriage of the car, were sprayed with rustproofing compound and there is zero rust under the car or in the trunk. If you like to look at your driveway through the spare tire well on cars of this vintage; than this is NOT the car for you!
The car runs and drives very well for a seventy-three year old car. It was converted to a 12 volt electrical system; so consequently, it starts almost immediately in ALL weather (and yes; it can get very cold in northwestern sissippi in the winter!). The lights and turn signals work. The brakes are fairly tight for a four-wheel drum brake car and the engine runs as well and as fast a seventy-three year old flathead six cylinder engine will. The only thing that does not work is the heater/defroster because when the car was converted to a 12 volt electrical system, the blower motor was disconnected and never reattached. It needs a ground adapter to reconnect and work properly.
fortunately, I really don’t know much about the history of the car other than what I was told by the previous owner. I purchased the car from its owner in , Arkansas in May, 2023. He owned it since February, 2017. He told me that he had the car converted to a 12 volt electrical system and had the brakes rebuilt; but otherwise, the car was in its present condition when he brought it. Since I owned it, I purchased a new battery, four new tires, and had a fuel filter installed inside the engine.
I drive the car three-five times per week. It is a fun car to drive and it is really popular here in sdale, sissippi; but I don’t love it. I brought it because of its condition. I am not trying to unload my junk on you: this car is NOT junk. I just want the money from its sale to purchase other cars.
I welcome your questions and look forward to talking to you about this gorgeous 1951 !
