This 1955 Pontiac Star Chief Custom Safari station wagon was refurbished in 1998 before being acquired by the owner in 2019. The car is finished in teal and cream over matching leather upholstery and powered by a 287ci V8 mated with a four-speed automatic transmission. Features include air conditioning, power windows, power-assisted steering and brakes, an illuminated hood ornament, and an electric antenna as well as a spotlight, windshield visor, tailpipe extension, and manually multi-way adjustable front seat. This Safari wagon is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with manufacturer’s literature, a Pontiac-Oakland Club award, refurbishment photos, service records, spare parts, and a clean Illinois title. The car is finished in teal and cream and is said to have been repainted under previous ownership. Features include chrome-finished bumpers, side moldings, and window trim as well as an illuminated hood ornament, an electric antenna, a spotlight, a windshield visor, rear stone guards, and a tailpipe extension. The 15″ steel wheels wear Pontiac-branded wire covers and are mounted with 225/75 Coker Classic whitewall tires. A full-size spare is mounted below the trunk floor. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted drums at all four corners. The cabin features a manually multi-way adjustable front bench seat and a rear bench upholstered in teal leather with cream button-tufted inserts. Equipment includes air conditioning, power windows, an analog clock, and a Pontiac push-button AM radio. The left front seat side trim is cracked. The two-spoke steering wheel has a chrome horn ring and frames a 120-mph speedometer flanked by two multi-function gauges. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 9k miles, approximately 300 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The 287ci V8 features a four-barrel carburetor and was factory rated at 200 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed Hydramatic automatic transmission. Manufacturer’s literature, a Pontiac-Oakland Club award, refurbishment photos, service records, and spare parts are included in the sale.
