For sale 1956 Chevy convertible that has been a local car since new. It has the dual quad engine and 3spd. O/D 2 owner car from new. I don’t know if this is the 225hp or 240hp with Hi-Lift cam. ne has been rebuilt, but never started. The rebuild was done some years ago by a reputable local machine shop. The complete drive line is back in the car. The frame and under carriage have been done and painted, but some refreshing will be needed due to long sitting time. The carbs are the Carter WCFB’s which are correct for the era of this car. I have seen them on Corvettes. These carbs were used from 56-61 on the Corvettes. Also on the 57 Chevy’s with dual 4bbl. carbs. I know Chevy started using multi-carb engines in 1956, but this is the first 56 passenger car I have seen them on. The suffixes for dual quad engines were as follows. GS for 225hp with manual transmission, and GT for 240hp with Hi-Lift cam and manual transmission. I took photos of of the engine pad on this car . The suffix for this car’s engine ends in GE which we finally established as a 205hp power pack engine with 3spd. O/D transmission. I’m not about to make a statement as to numbers matching. ing to the original owner this car had dual carbs from the git go. This car sat in the southern end of county, Va. for years withering away in the weather. Numerous attempts to purchase it had been rejected by the owner. This car has been domiciled in Heights which is in the southern end of County all  it’s life I reside in County, but in the north western part of the county. I never heard of this car until I was getting a deer hit car repaired at Pete’s y Shop which is also in Heights. I was rapping with   the current proprietor of Pete’s. We were talking about some of ‘s old Chevy/ trucks and he brought up this car and wondered if I knew anything about it. I did not, but the current owners name was mentioned and I know him very well. It was revealed that he had the car  with a trove of Dan k parts for sale. Sammy’s first name is all I will reveal as he is now 80 years of age and very frail. He was a customer of kman Chevrolet in , Va. did this guy own some sweet stuff back n the day. w bout a 68 Impala SS427 4 spd., 69 big block 427 Vette, and 69 Camaro 427 COPO. U see I was a part of this dealership from the time I was pup age in 1959 until September 1989. I sold my portion to my 2 brothers at that time and went into the muscle car business. kman Chevrolet was in business for 50 years as a Chevy/ / ru dealer. The car was for sale, but it seems no one knew how to merchandise it. I mentioned to that I may be interested in helping Sammy so I arranged an interview with him to get some information from the horses mouth. Sammy somehow managed to wrest this car from the original owners family some 25 or so years ago with full intentions of bringing it back to it’s former glory. I said I have known Sammy for many years. It was about the time that he purchased this car that I remember him being diagnosed with a rare blood disease. My deduction is Sammy had to focus on fighting for his life and the car was virtually put on hold for all these years. He put the car in a local body shop and started part of the heavy lifting process. The frame and undercarriage are done. The body is completely done and all in one piece with all fenders, doors and quarters finished. I said the power train has been done and is back in place in the car. I went to where the car is currently stored and took many photos of things as they currently set. There are thousands of dollars in new Dan k parts. The vin on the title and the vin plate on the car match up perfectly. Now to the mystery of the carbs and the engine suffix. Sammy verified the carb, intake and all the drive train as being in the car when he purchased it as the second owner. I have established that the engine was a wanda built engine and is a 56 engine. The overdrive transmission was cast in January of 56, but I don’t know how to establish the build time of the car. Also I photographed the distributor that came with the car and it also suggests the carbs were on the car from day one. The part number on that distributor is 1110879 and the date code is 6E9 which indicates it as a 56 built on May 9th. When I ran the distributor number it indicated it is for a dual carb engine in 1956 with dual points. I said I will not make any declarations as to numbers matching. The carbs and distributor could have been dealer installed after the car was built based on the GE suffix code.  member this was back in the day when numbers/suffix’s were just being applied. This was just the 2nd year of Chevrolet’s production of the hot new V8 engine that was destined to make history for years to come and the 1st year of multi carb engines with hot cam profiles. This car has really captured my interest and as a result I’m offering to present it to the world on Sammy’s behalf. I am a mings subscriber of many years it just seemed to be the proper venue  to bring this rare car to would be buyer’s. All inquiries will go through me. My name is Mike and my phone number is (. I’m not an email junkie. I prefer phone calls and texts. I will be as honest as my knowledge permits. My interpretation is with the status as the car currently sits with the driveline in place and major body work done and the new parts U’re over half way on this project. We’re offering it all, car new parts, and all original old parts for the sum of $40,000.00. I am representing Sammy as a friend, not a customer. Thanks for looking. PS We have a good clean numbers matching  title and original vin plate. Let’s Git R done  for Sammy!
