This 1957 Pontiac Star Chief Custom Safari station wagon was acquired by the owner as a partially-completed project in December 2018, and subsequent work consisted of reupholstering the interior, rebuilding the Rochester two-barrel carburetor, and installing exterior trim, wheels, tires, and windows. The car is finished in red over red and ivory vinyl upholstery, and power is provided by a 347ci V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. Features include power-assisted steering and brakes, 15″ steel wheels, Coker Classic whitewall tires, a carpeted cargo area, an analog clock, and a Deluxe push-button AM radio. This two-door Safari wagon is now offered on dealer consignment with a clean Michigan title. The car left the factory finished in Kenya Ivory and was repainted in red under previous ownership. Features include chrome-finished bumpers, side and rear moldings, and window trim as well as missile-shaped side trim, extended tail fins, and a two-piece tailgate. Paint imperfections are shown in the gallery. Red-finished 14″ steel wheels wear Pontiac-branded bright wheel covers and are mounted with Coker Classic bias-ply whitewall tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted drums at all four corners. A two-wheel alignment was performed in January 2023. The cabin features front and rear bench seats reupholstered in red and ivory vinyl joined by color-coordinated door panels. Equipment includes a heater and defroster, a carpeted cargo area, an analog clock, and a Deluxe push-button AM radio. The two-spoke steering wheel has a chrome horn ring and frames a 120-mph speedometer and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 56k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The Strato-streak 347ci V8 features a Rochester 2-Jet carburetor and was factory rated at 270 horsepower and 359 ft-lb of torque. The carburetor was rebuilt in 2023. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Strato-Flight Hydra-Matic three-speed automatic transmission.
