This 1958 Mercedes-Benz 190SL underwent a refurbishment from 2007 to 2016 that included rebuilding the 1.9-liter inline-four and four-speed manual transmission as well as refinishing the exterior in ivory and reupholstering the interior in blue. Equipment includes a blue convertible soft top, 13″ steel wheels with body-color hubcaps, and an AM/FM radio. This 190SL was acquired by the seller in 2017 and is now offered with the owner’s manual, 190SL literature, a picnic basket set, a tool kit, service records, a car cover, a set of Weber carburetors, refurbishment photos, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name. The body was removed from the frame and refinished in ivory, and the windshield surround, grille, and bumpers were re-chromed. Additional features include a replacement blue convertible soft top, and a driver-side mirror. Steel 13″ wheels wear chrome trim rings, hubcaps with body-color accents, and Vredestein Sport Classic V wide whitewall tires. The car is equipped with a double-wishbone front suspension, rear swing axles with coil springs, and power-assisted drum brakes. The shocks, tie rods, bushings, and brake master cylinder were replaced during the refurbishment. The cabin was stripped and reupholstered and features low-back bucket seats trimmed in blue leather as well as matching door panels and dashboard trim. Amenities include lap belts, an analog clock, a Becker Europa AM/FM radio, and a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror. The two-spoke steering wheel frames refurbished VDO instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer as well as gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 3,800 miles, approximately 220 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The 1.9-liter M121 inline-four was overhauled in 2007 and features rebuilt twin dual Solex carburetors, an alternator, an aftermarket starter, and a spin-on oil filter adapter. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a fully synchronized four-speed manual transmission that was rebuilt in 2007. The clutch assembly was also replaced. A collection of 190SL literature, a picnic basket set, a canvas interior cover, a tool kit, spare parts, Weber carburetors and adapter plates, as well as service records are included in the sale.
