This 1958 Volkswagen Type 2 bus was refreshed by the selling dealer approximately four years ago, with work reportedly including a partial repaint, rust repairs, a reseal of the engine, and the installation of a camper-style interior. Finished in two-tone green, the bus is powered by a 1.2L flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle and features a roof rack with wood slats, a folding table, wood cabinets, and a removable fold-out canopy. This bus is being offered on consignment by the selling dealer with a period two-burner stove, lantern, cooler, and folding table, along with photos from the refurbishment and a Washington title. Finished in two-tone green, the bodywork underwent rust repairs on the nose and lower rocker panels prior to a partial repaint around four years ago. Exterior features include body-color bumpers, a roof rack with wood slats, and dual side-view mirrors. An area of paint loss on the roof is present, along with various dents, scratches, and spots of corrosion. The seller notes that various pieces of weatherstripping have been replaced, though the side windows are in need of new seals. Photos of the van with the included fold-out canopy assembled are provided in the gallery below. Two-tone 15” steel wheels feature chrome VW-branded hubcaps and are mounted with Firestone-branded Coker Classic tires. Braking is through four-wheel drums that were reportedly overhauled around four years ago. Additional work at that time is said to have included a refresh of the front axle, as well as replacement of the drag link and tie rods. The front cabin houses a bench seat trimmed in light green vinyl with darker green piping and two-tone door panels. A black rubber mat lines the floors. A two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a 70-mph VDO speedometer. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 37k miles, around 1k of which have been added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The rear of the cabin has been outfitted with camper-style appointments, including custom wood cabinets and side panels, a folding table, and patterned fabric-upholstered bench seats that fold into a bed. A multicolored carpet mat lines the floors. A collection of period-style camping equipment will accompany the vehicle, photos of which are provided in the gallery below. The 1.2L flat-four is equipped with a single carburetor. The engine is said to have been resealed and fitted with a replacement wiring harness and battery prior to its acquisition by the current owner in 2020. An oil leak is reported. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transaxle. The seller notes that the nose cone has been re-bushed and the axle seals and boots replaced. Additional underbody photos are provided in the gallery below. A handful of photos from the metal repairs can be seen in the gallery. The Washington title lists “Classic” under the brands section.
