This 1959 Ford Galaxie Skyliner was acquired by the seller in June 2020 and underwent a refurbishment at Classic Ford Restoration, LLC of Springdale, Arkansas. Work included stripping and repainting the body and chassis, re-trimming the interior, re-wiring the car, rebuilding the convertible top system and engine components, and installing interior and exterior trim components. The car is powered by a 332ci V8 linked with a three-speed automatic transmission, and it is finished in Geranium and gunmetal gray over white, coral, and black upholstery. Features include a power-retractable hardtop, a Continental kit, air conditioning, a power-adjustable bench seat, power steering, chrome 14″ wire wheels, a dual exhaust system, an analog clock, and a push-button AM radio. This Galaxie Skyliner is now offered with a clean Illinois title in the seller’s name. The car was repainted in its current shade of Geranium and gunmetal gray during the aforementioned refurbishment. Exterior details include a power-retractable hardtop, front-hinged hood, a Continental kit, fender-mounted side mirrors, chrome bumpers, rear fender skirts, gold “Skyliner” badging, and dual exhaust outlets that exit through the rear bumper. Chrome 14″ wire wheels are mounted with Auburn HR78-14″ whitewall tires. The car is equipped with power-assisted steering, and braking is handled by drums at each corner. The brake wheel cylinders and power steering pump were replaced, and the power steering cylinder and control valve were rebuilt during the refurbishment. The cabin features two rows of bench seating that was reupholstered in coral and white vinyl upholstery with black cloth inserts. Additional features include a four-way power-adjustable front bench seat, air conditioning, an analog clock, a push-button AM radio, black carpeting, “Fairlane 500” and “Galaxie” badging, and power windows. The seller notes that the air conditioning compressor rattles during operation. The three-spoke steering wheel has a chrome horn ring and frames a 120-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 12k miles, approximately 300 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The 332ci V8 was overhauled during the refurbishment and is equipped with a single carburetor, ceramic-coated exhaust manifolds, and a teal-finished air cleaner and Ford-branded valve covers. The engine seeps oil. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. The transmission and rear axle were overhauled during the refurbishment and a dual exhaust system has been installed.
