This 1960 Buick Electra 225 is one of 6,746 convertible examples produced for the model year. It underwent a multi-year refurbishment by Cliff Avenue Upholstery & Restoration of Tea, South Dakota, before it was purchased by the current owner in 2024. The car is finished in Midnight Blue over two-tone blue upholstery, and power comes from a 401ci Nailhead V8 paired with a Turbine Drive two-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes power steering, power-assisted finned drum brakes, slanted tail fins, a power-operated white soft top, power windows, and a power-adjustable front bench. This Series 4800 Electra 225 was featured on the cover of Motor Market in November 2019, and it is now offered on dealer consignment with a clean South Dakota title in the seller’s name. Delivered from the factory in Midnight Blue (W), the car was repainted during the refurbishment. Equipment includes chrome bumpers and trim, quad headlights, fender-mounted Electra badges and Ventiports, a retractable antenna, a wraparound windshield, a power-operated white soft top, ribbed lower-body trim, and slanted tail fins. The windshield wipers do not work. Body-color steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps with painted accents, and they are mounted with 235/75 BFGoodrich Silvertown Radial whitewall tires. A matching spare tire is stowed in the trunk. The Electra 225 rode on a 126.3″ wheelbase and featured a coil-sprung independent front suspension as well as a live rear axle with leaf springs. The car was delivered from the factory with power steering and power-assisted four-wheel finned drum brakes. The cabin features front and rear benches trimmed in two-tone blue upholstery along with color-coordinated door panels. Equipment includes power windows, a power-adjustable front bench, a heater and defroster, an under-dash tissue holder, and Buick-branded floor mats. The Sonomatic push-button AM radio does not work. The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a Mirromagic instrument panel housing a horizontal 120-mph speedometer, a trip mileage indicator, a fuel-level gauge, and an analog clock. The five-digit odometer is said to have been reset during the refurbishment, and it shows 121 miles. Total mileage is unknown. The 401ci Nailhead V8 is equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and was factory rated at 325 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a two-speed Turbine Drive automatic transmission. The Fisher body tag decodes as follows: Style 60-4867 – 1960 Electra 225 convertible Body FB2718 – Flint, Michigan assembly, body number Trim 810 – Blue upholstery Paint WW– Midnight Blue paint 3 – White convertible top ACC. B – Heater and defroster The November 2019 Motor Market cover story on the car is presented in the gallery below.
