This 1961 Morgan Plus 4 is a four-seat example that spent approximately 23 years with its previous owner in California before the selling dealer’s acquisition in December 2022. Finished in ivory with green fenders and running boards over tan leather upholstery, the car is powered by a 1,991cc Triumph inline-four mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes dual SU carburetors, 15″ steel wheels, front disc brakes, Koni shocks, a tan soft top, a rear luggage rack, a Lucas driving lamp, and a Bluemel’s Brooklands banjo-style steering wheel. Service performed in preparation for the sale is said to have involved cleaning the fuel pump and fuel lines as well as replacing the tires. This Morgan Plus 4 four-seat is now offered by the selling dealer with side curtains and a clean California title. The car is said to have been refinished in ivory with green fenders and running boards under prior ownership. A tan soft top is fitted, and further exterior details include a badge bar with a single Lucas driving lamp as well as mesh headlight covers, fender-mounted side mirrors, wind deflectors, a chrome rear luggage rack, and a polished ANSA exhaust tip. Peeling paint is visible on the front end, and other finish imperfections are viewable in the gallery below. A pair of tan side curtains is included. Gray-finished 15″ steel wheels wear polished hubcaps and are mounted with 165-width Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that are said to have been mounted in preparation for the sale, while a matching spare wheel is secured out back. Koni shocks are fitted up front, and braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. Chipped paint is noted on the wheels. The cabin houses front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in tan leather with color-coordinated center tunnel trim, door panels, rear panels, and carpets. Lap belts are fitted for the front occupants, and additional appointments include a wooden dashboard, a rearview mirror, and a Morgan-branded shift knob. A four-spoke Bluemel’s Brooklands banjo-style steering wheel fronts a 110-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a combination gauge. The factory water temperature readout does not work, though an aftermarket Bosch water temperate gauge has been installed under the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 76k miles, and total mileage is unknown. The steering wheel rim shows wear. The 1,991cc inline-four was manufactured by Triumph and is equipped with dual polished SU carburetors along with a Lucas voltage regulator and a 12-volt ignition coil. Service performed since December 2022 is said to have involved cleaning the fuel pump and fuel lines in addition to replacing the fuel filter. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Additional underside images are presented in the gallery. The reproduction data plate lists 4565 as the stock number, which is consistent with the VIN listed on the California title.
