This 1961 Porsche 356B Karmann Notchback race car was built by Emory Motorsports in 2004 and then campaigned by Rod Emory on the West Coast. The car’s next owner raced the car in SOVREN, CSRG, HMSA, SVRA, and VARA events. Power is from a 1,620cc flat-four featuring a SCAT crank, Carillo rods, and an Elgin cam. The 4-speed close-ratio transaxle is equipped with a limited-slip differential, and additional modifications include disc brakes, a full roll cage, aluminum hood, lightweight windows, Mahle gas burner wheels, a Sparco racing seat, a fire suppression system, adjustable shocks, and more. Recent maintenance is said to have included a top end rebuild and a valve job. This 356 race car was acquired by the selling dealer eight months ago and is now being offered in New York with build receipts and a New Jersey title. The car was modified by Emory Motorsports in 2004 to its present configuration. Work included the addition of an aluminum hood, lightweight windows, and a louvered rear engine cover, as well as deleting the bumpers. The car was refinished in Burnt Orange and features meatballs carrying the number 41. The car is not equipped with side windows, though the seller notes they could be fitted. Mahle gas burner lightweight wheels wear Yokohama ADVAN A048 tires. The car is equipped with 4-wheel disc brakes, a dual-circuit brake master cylinder, adjustable QA1 shocks, Z-bar, and Wright spindles. It has reportedly been corner balanced as well. The cabin features a Sparco Evo 2 racing seat with a Schroth Racing harness for the driver, as well as gray square-weave carpets and a full roll cage. A low-back passenger seat and fire suppression system are equipped, as is a detachable Nardi leather steering wheel. Green VDO instrumentation housed in the body-colored dashboard includes a rotated 8k-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and an oil pressure gauge, as well as a combination oil temperature and fuel level gauge. The 5-digit odometer shows 27k miles, about 400 of which were added by the selling dealer. Total mileage is unknown. The 1,620cc flat-four features a 12:1 compression ratio, SCAT billet crankshaft, Carrillo connecting rods, an Elgin racing camshaft, Solex 40 PII carburetors, a 180mm lightened flywheel, and an extended oil pan. The 741/2 close-ratio 4-speed manual transaxle is equipped with a a Kennedy clutch and a GT limited-slip differential.
