1962 stin Healey BT7 le Carburetor
This classic Big Healey is a limited production le carburetor car with a center shift transmission. All aspects of this car have been assessed and repaired to original condition as needed. furbishment completed 2014-2023. These areas were totally disassembled, defects remedied and reassembled with proper paint or zinc plating where needed as described (ask for detailed pictures) in a separate document.
- end – Disassembled, bead blasted and painted or zinc plated as needed. placed all rubber and bushings as needed. placed brake flex lines with new lines. talled new brake pads.
- – Cleaned and painted inside of boot. placed cord lining. talled new wheel and tire. placed gas tank and hold down straps. Added known ground wire to gas tank sending unit to stabilize gas gage. sembled original style jack, handle and tire pump. placed boot lid rubber seal.
- ar axle – moved differential from car, disassembled cleaned, checked for serviceability, replaced seals and gaskets and painted. ng inspection, noted one axle worn and one spring had broken leaves.
- smission and overdrive – speed center shift transmission with overdrive. smission was disassembled cleaned, checked for serviceability, replaced synchronizers and seals, reassembled and painted. All transmission rubber mounts replaced and transmission restraining device rebuilt.
drive was disassembled, inspected, replaced screen and seals, reassembled and painted. drive linkage was adjusted to factory specs.
- ne compartment- moved all components, cleaned and painted engine compartment. placed heat shields. Bead blasted and zinc plated all electrical connections. talled new wiring harness.
- ne (external components) – moved ancillaries from engine block and cleaned and painted all components separately. placed timing chain, sprockets, tensioner and seals. placed all engine mount rubber components. placed engine, after market, rear crank seal. talled new carburetor heat shield. built all three carburetors. Bead blasted and zinc plated all associated hardware. talled all new braided steel fuel hoses. talled new WOSP High Torque starter. talled K&N high performance air filters on each carburetors. This Tri-carb has a Pertronix Electronic ion installed.
- Dash and components – covered dash pad and dash. placed door to front fender seals. placed trafficator wiring harness.
- Interior and weather equipment – talled new (fender to cowl) door weatherproofing seals. talled three point seat belts for front seats. Built center console arm rest for storage (original pad comes with car). ulated both sides of the transmission cover. Original (Weathershields) side curtains and a new set of aftermarket side curtains. New tonneau cover with metal stays. Like new black soft top that fits very well.
- ts common front to rear – Cleaned and painted chassis front to back. placed all fuel, brake and wiring. talled new original style SU fuel pump
- Updated items – Headlight high and low beam relays added to reduce the amp draw on the light switch and provide more amps to high and low beams. d and installed period correct original PL700 tri-pod front lights (not reproductions).
od correct (original) 576 driving lights installed with relay and wired to come on with headlights.
built two original stin Healey steering wheels with laminated cherry wood. One wheel is the same diameter as original (17”) and the other one is sized smaller (15 1/2”).
Added halogen lights to normal rear reflectors to operate with signals and brakes.
High torque updated starter installed (reduces drag on the battery and lets the engine turn over and crank easily).
sembled an original style jack with tire pump and bag to hold all components.
talled a remote clutch slave cylinder bleeder.
Upgraded bushings on the throttle shaft that controls the overdrive linkage.
Designed and installed a PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) system to eliminate oil fowling of the third carburetor air filter.
talled new (5) wheels, tires and new two eared knock offs (4).
Added engine coolant overflow tank to maintain coolant level.
placed both front shocks.
