This 1962 Volkswagen Beetle convertible is powered by a replacement air-cooled flat-four that is fitted with Okrasa cylinder heads, dual Weber carburetors, Bosch ignition components, and a performance exhaust system. Reportedly refurbished under prior ownership, it is finished in red over white vinyl upholstery and is equipped with a black soft top, a four-speed manual transaxle, and body-color 15″ steel wheels with hubcaps as well as four-wheel disc brakes, hooded headlights, a left-side mirror, VDO instrumentation, and lap belts. Purchased by the seller in February 2019, this Beetle convertible is now offered with a records letter from Volkswagen, the removed factory engine, spare parts, a tool kit, and a clean California title in the seller’s name. The car was factory-finished in Poppy Red and was repainted under prior ownership. Exterior details include a black convertible soft top and chrome-finished bumpers with overriders along with Hella headlight covers, chrome headlight visors, running boards, polished trim, a louvered engine cover, and twin exhaust outlets. Blemishes in the finish and stains on the glass are noted by the seller. Body-color 15″ steel wheels with polished VW-logo hubcaps and bright trim rings are mounted with 165-series Coker Classic wide-whitewall tires, while a full-size spare on a matching wheel is stowed in the front trunk. An EMPI four-wheel disc-brake conversion kit has been fitted. The low-back bucket seats as well as the rear bench are upholstered in white vinyl and are accompanied by two-tone door panels and a body-color dashboard. Additional appointments include a passenger grab handle, a bamboo parcel tray, front and rear lap belts, and a locking glove compartment. The banjo-spoke steering wheel frames a VDO 90-mph speedometer and a fuel-level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 3,200 miles, approximately 2k of which have been added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown. The replacement air-cooled flat-four is said to displace 1,700cc and to be equipped with Okrasa cylinder heads, dual Weber 36 IDF carburetors, and 912-style air intake filters. An oil change was carried out within the last 200 miles. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle that seeps oil per the seller. An aftermarket exhaust system is installed. A letter from Volkswagen lists the factory color, engine and chassis numbers, and production and delivery dates. The removed factory engine is included in the sale.
