This 1962 Volkswagen Type 2 is a 23-window Deluxe model that was acquired by the seller in 1987 and subsequently fitted with a replacement 1.6L flat-four and four-speed manual transaxle. The van is finished in two-tone red and white and and features eight skylight windows, a sliding canvas roof, white bumpers, 15” steel wheels, twin Kadron carburetors, and front and rear bench seats. This 23-window bus is now offered with a removed engine and transaxle, spare and replacement parts, recent service records, and a clean California title in the seller’s name. The van is finished in faded red paint with a white upper section and features four skylight windows on each side of the roof as well as a sliding canvas roof, sliding front door windows, pop-out side windows, and white bumpers with guards. The engine hatch and rear apron are said to have been replaced under prior ownership. Cracking window seals as well as corrosion, dents, and paint chips around the van can be viewed in the gallery. Steel 15” wheels show rust and wear chrome hubcaps and beauty rings. 165-series Michelin tires are mounted at all four corners. The suspension is equipped with a Bus Boys lowering kit and KYB Gas-a-Just shock absorbers. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drum brakes. The cab features a bench seat trimmed in brown vinyl that wears an aftermarket gray vinyl cover. According to the seller, the replacement 1.6L flat-four was sourced from a 1974 Super Beetle and is equipped with an Engle camshaft and twin Kadron carburetors. The battery was replaced in January 2022, and the fuel pump, filter, and supply hoses were reportedly replaced in July 2022. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement four-speed manual transaxle that is said be from a 1969 Beetle.
