This 1963 Imperial Crown convertible was sold new at Kieffer Motor Sales of Massillon, Ohio on February 28, 1963, and it is said to have remained in possession of the second owner from 1964 until 2023. The car was acquired by the selling dealer in June 2023, and subsequent work consisted of rebuilding the carburetor, performing brake service and an ignition tune-up, and replacing the thermostat and the tires. The car is powered by a 413ci V8 linked with a TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission and is finished in red over black leather upholstery. Equipment includes a power-operated black convertible top, power steering, power-assisted drum brakes, wheel covers, a push-button gear selector, an AM radio, a six-way power-adjustable driver seat, and power windows. This Imperial Crown is now offered with a sales brochure, a service certificate, manufacturer’s literature, and a Pennsylvania title. A total of 531 Imperial Crown convertibles were produced for the 1963 model year. This example left the factory finished in Claret Metallic (TT1) and is said to have been repainted in the 1980s. Details include a power-operated black convertible top and matching parade boot, a left-fender-mounted mirror, quadruple headlamps, styled tail fins, and chrome bumpers and trim. The convertible top was reportedly replaced in 1988, and it is pictured in its raised and lowered positions in the gallery below. The power antenna does not work. Black 15″ steel wheels wear stainless-steel covers and are mounted with whitewall radial tires that were reportedly installed in 2023. A non-matching spare is located in the trunk. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted drums at all four corners. The brakes are said to have been serviced in 2023 with replacement of the primary cylinder, wheel cylinders, and hoses as well as turning the drums and flushing the fluid. The cabin features front and rear bench seats trimmed in black leather upholstery complemented by a color-coordinated dashboard and door panels. Equipment includes a push-button gear selector, an AM radio, a six-way power-adjustable driver seat, a dashboard-mounted headlight dimmer, power windows, and rubber floor mats. The rectangular steering wheel has a chrome horn ring and frames a horizontally sweeping 120-mph speedometer, a clock, and four auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 78k miles, approximately 150 of which were added by the selling dealer. The 413ci V8 was factory rated at 340 horsepower and features a four-barrel carburetor and a black air-cleaner assembly. Work in 2023 is said to have consisted of rebuilding the carburetor, changing the oil, flushing the coolant, and replacing the spark plugs, plug wires, points, condenser, fuel filter, battery, and thermostat. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission. A replacement dual exhaust system has been installed. Corrosion is visible on underbody components. The firewall-mounted trim tag specifies the following production information: BDY 925 – Imperial Crown convertible TRM 956 – Black leather upholstery PNT TT1 – Claret Metallic paint An Imperial sales brochure, a service certificate, and manufacturer’s literature accompany the vehicle. The Pennsylvania title describes the car as a 1963 Chrysler sedan.
