This 1963 Mercedes-Benz 230SL is a European-market example that was acquired out of Germany in 1966 and subsequently imported to the United States, where it remained with its previous owner for more than five decades before being acquired by the selling dealer in 2023. Finished in Dark Green (268) over Bamboo leather, the car is powered by a 2.3-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a black convertible top, a removable hardtop, power steering, 14″ steel wheels with painted hubcaps, a kinder seat, and a heater. This W113 SL is now offered by the selling dealer with a German-language registration document, a tool roll, and a clean Pennsylvania title. The W113 SL was designed by Friedrich Geiger, Béla Barényi, and Paul Bracq and was introduced to the public at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show. This example is finished in Dark Green (268) and features a black soft top, which is said to have been replaced in 2020. A body-color removable hardtop, a driver-side mirror, and European-specification headlights are also equipped. The selling dealer reports that the left front fender was refinished in the 1970s, and there is corrosion on the left rear wheel arch. Steel 14″ wheels feature hubcaps with painted centers and are mounted with Dayton Grande tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The cabin houses bucket seats upholstered in Bamboo leather that extends to the door panels. Interior appointments include a kinder seat, an analog clock, a floor-mounted gear shifter, and a heater. The Blaupunkt radio does not work. The wood shift knob shown in portions of the photo gallery is not included in the sale. The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames a 220-km/h speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline as well as gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 6,100 kilometers (~3,800 miles) and is noted to have rolled over. The 2.3-liter M127 inline-six was factory equipped with Bosch fuel injection and sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The selling dealer notes evidence of prior repairs to the exhaust system. Additional underside photos are presented in the gallery below. A German-language registration document and a tool roll will accompany the car. Filed under: pagoda, sl, w113
