This 1963 Messerschmitt KR200 Cabrio is said to have been sold new in Finland and later owned by The Bruce Weiner Microcar Museum before the seller’s acquisition in 2008. The vehicle is finished in white over red vinyl upholstery and is powered by an air-cooled 191cc two-stroke single mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Features include a black soft top, seating for three, a steering yoke, and sliding side windows. Work performed under current ownership reportedly involved overhauling the engine, repainting the rear fender, and replacing the soft top, boot, and rear suspension bushings. This Messerschmitt KR200 is offered at no reserve with a tool kit, a jack, and a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name. The Fritz Fend-designed KR200 debuted in 1955 and was built under license by FMR from 1957 to 1964. This example is said to have been refinished in white under previous ownership, and the rear fender was reportedly repainted in 2023. Additional equipment includes a side-hinged top, a wraparound windshield, sliding side windows, and dual side mirrors. The seller states that the black canvas soft top and top boot were replaced under current ownership. Cracks and chips are visible in the paint, close-up photos of which are provided in the gallery below. All three 8″ wheels are mounted with 4.80/4.00-8 Deli Tire tires, and the front two wear silver covers. A spare wheel and tire are mounted inside the engine cover. The car features a 10-bolt rear wheel, a three-wheel independent suspension, and braking from cable-operated mechanical drums. The rear suspension bushings are said to have been replaced in 2010 and show age. The cockpit features tandem seating with a single front seat and a rear bench upholstered in red vinyl with white piping. Features include body-color sheet metal, a black rubber floor mat, a map pocket, an 8-ball shift knob, Finnish-language labels on some of the controls and warning lights, and a rear storage compartment with a hinged door. The seller states that the floor was incorrectly replaced under prior ownership. A white steering yoke sits ahead of a 120-km/h speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and lighting controls. The five-digit odometer shows 3k kilometers (~2k miles), all of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The Sachs 191cc two-stroke single produced approximately 10 horsepower when new and is said to have been overhauled in 2010. The engine can operate in both directions of crankshaft rotation, thereby providing forward and reverse movement of the car through all four gears. Additional equipment reportedly includes a stainless steel exhaust system, a quick-release neutral cable, an electric fuel tap, and a solid-state voltage regulator. Power is sent to the rear wheel through a sequential four-speed manual transmission and an enclosed drive chain.
