1963 Mg B Dark Blue Roadster

1963 MG B Roadster * Undergone Recent Extensive Rebuild!

This  MGB is being sold by a private seller and has undergone a recent extensive rebuild by the owner who obtained the car in 1989 from a family member. The car is licensed, registered, and Titled as a 1963 MGB Roadster in the state of Arizona. The chassis nameplate identifies the car as a 2 door Mark I Left hand drive MG Roadster. The engine is the basic MGB 1800cc 4 cylinder 5 bearing engine that has been completely rebuilt with a new “Mild Performance Cam”, new twin 1 1/2” SU carburetors, and a sport exhaust system. An aluminum radiator with an electric fan and a 16 row oil cooler with stainless steel hoses were added. An MGB 4 speed manual transmission with overdrive replaced the standard four speed transmission.  The standard front suspension lever arm shock absorbers were replaced with a new coil over conversion kit. Brake and clutch master cylinders and hydraulic lines were replaced with new units. Good Year Ultratour 195/60R15 tires are mounted on eight spoke Minilite 15 x 5.5 bolt-on wheels. The electrical system was updated to an Advance AUTO-WIRE custom wiring panel which includes a central Power Block that includes relays for power, fuel pump, starter, cooling fan, horn, high beam headlights, and low beam headlights. Also included in the Power Block are two fuse boxes.  The following switches communicate with the Power Block; Anti-Theft, Fan Heater, Windshield Wipers, Hazard Warning, Map Light, Fuel Cutoff, and Radiator Fan. A New Vintage Indicator Panel was added which indicates left and right hand turns, high beam, alternator, overdrive, fan, and hazard signals. The interior carpets are new and a 15” Tourist Trophy Solid Wood Rimmed Steering Wheel was added.  Interior dash, seats, carpet, and door panels were all redone by C.O.F. Upholstery in Chandler, Arizona.  A RetroSound Model One radio is added to the center dash position.  The paint was stripped and repainted to replicate the 1964 Hollywood Sports Car MGB that was campaigned in SCCA events by Jim Adams (driver) and Lew Spencer (mechanic). The body is a metallic Viper Blue, the wheel wells are red, and the engine bay and trunk are a light blue. A hard top and tonneau cover are also included with the car. The front bumper was replaced with a special fiberglass Tuning Air Dam. A roll bar was added but subsequently removed and is now part of the options list.  Simpson 3” lap belts are included on both the driver and passenger seats.

The total mileage is not known but the car has been with the same owner for 34 years of which 25 were in storage. Since the restoration, the car has been driven a maximum of 50 miles due to the sellers’ involvement in other restoration projects. It is estimated that the car may have around 50K total miles.

The car has no rust as it has been in Arizona and kept inside a covered garage. As can be seen from the photos, the car is highly detailed and represents a high quality MGB.
