1963 Porsche .  The car reportedly spent most of its life in CA, arriving in MA 25 years ago.  Shortly after getting the car the current owner replaced the engine, but otherwise they believe the car remains original.

The engine in this car is production 1600S.  The engine has Zenith NDIX carburetors that look original. The valves are recently adjusted and the motor runs well.  Compression readings are 87, 103, 116, 115.  The plugs are new; the old ones did not show any oil fouling. ne runs reasonably smoothly. The engine was described as a used engine, not a rebuilt one, and its appearance is consistent with that today.  A photo of the engine with a valve cover off shows it to be clean inside

The odometer shows 60,393, and the certificate of title says the mileage is 160,000.

The owner’s husband passed away a few years ago, and the car has been sitting.  With fresh fuel and a battery we found the car started right up and ran. This car is a running, driving vehicle, and is ready for some further fixing up and enjoyment.  We don’t see any signs of wrinkling from accidents, nor do we see any rust damage.  Everything works now – brakes, steering, suspension, engine and transmission. The Blaupunkt radio works. The car is sitting on brand new period-correct Michelin XAS radials.

The body panels all fit fairly well and there is no sign of body work.  The paint job is more than 25 years old – the current owners have had it that long and done nothing – and still looks decent.  The interior shows some wear but appears original. The interior is complete, and the lights, horn, gauges, and such all function.

The car has original aluminum-finned drum brakes.  The kingpins have some wear and are ready for service. The transmission shifts fine, and the brakes are working and feel normal, but they drag a bit and are due for service.  The car passed MA state safety inspection on Oct 3rd  and the sticker is shown in the gallery.

Our company has serviced and restored cars like this one for 35 years.  This is one of the more original, unmolested examples we have seen in that time.  such, it can be fixed up and driven with its current patina, or it could be the basis for a ground-up restoration.  Everything you need is here.

In view of the car’s age, it is offered as-is, where-is.  bison vice is offering the car on behalf of the buyer, and we are here to perform any checks or answer any questions you may have.
