“I consider this 1964 Prix to be a mild restomod,” the seller notes. “For all intents and purposes, it looks like an original car. The modifications are subtle and mostly performance related.”
He continues, “It was part of a collection of 1963 and 1964 Prixs that an older guy had put together. of the cars were unrestored. This one had been taken apart, repainted, and partially put back together, and the engine had also been rebuilt. I might add that all of the cars were white—it must have been his thing.”
The seller also reveals, “A friend of mine bought the entire collection and a shop full of spare parts when the old guy went to the big garage in the sky. My friend offered me this car because he knew I wouldn’t be able to resist a four-speed big car. I purchased it in 2011. The seats, door panels, etc. were all out of the car. A new headliner, dash pad, and package tray had been installed, and a new carpet kit was in the trunk. My son and I finished putting the car back together.”
He goes on to say, “The engine was built as an original four-barrel, as most were. t of the deal that I made with my friend was that he would include a Tri-Power manifold and carburetors for future use. The car worked fine as originally built, but I decided to make some improvements. More for performance than looks, as this isn’t a numbers-matching documented car. It still gets plenty of looks and awards as shown by the Good s recognition.”
