This 1968 Pontiac Firebird convertible was acquired by the seller in 2007 and subsequently refurbished and modified over the next ten years. Work consisted of stripping and repainting the body, replacing interior components, convertible top hydraulic lines, and cylinders, and installing upgraded suspension and brake components as well as a Turn Key Engine Supply 6.2-liter LS3 V8 linked with a Keisler Engineering Tremec five-speed manual transmission and a Moser 12-bolt rear axle with a limited-slip differential and 3.55:1 gears. The car is finished in black over white vinyl upholstery, and equipment includes a power-operated black convertible top, power steering, Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes, a Hotchkis TVS suspension kit and subframe connectors, 16″ Vintage Wheel Works V45 wheels, Hooker exhaust headers, MagnaFlow mufflers, Pioneer speakers, and a digital stereo. This modified Firebird convertible is now offered with build invoices, black California license plates, and a clean California title in the seller’s name. The car was repainted in black during the refurbishment and the front valance and left front fender were reportedly replaced. Exterior details include a power-operated black convertible top, chrome-finished bumpers and rocker-panel moldings, dual side mirrors, and polished exhaust finishers. The convertible top hydraulic lines and cylinders are said to have been replaced during the refurbishment. The convertible top exhibits wear, and paint blemishes are shown in the gallery. Vintage Wheel Works 16″ V45 wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich g-Force Sport Comp 2 tires measuring 225/50 up front and 245/50 out back. The center caps reportedly accompany the car. The car is fitted with power-assisted steering, a Hotchkis TVS suspension kit and subframe connectors, and KYB shock absorbers. Braking is handled by unassisted Wilwood calipers over drilled and slotted rotors at each corner. Polyurethane body and control arm bushings are said to have been fitted. The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench reupholstered in white vinyl and joined by color-coordinated door panels. Equipment includes a TKO-branded shifter, Hurst linkage, faux woodgrain trim, interior insulation, black carpeting, lap belts, Pioneer speakers, and a digital stereo. The battery has been relocated to the trunk. A wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Classic Instruments 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a multi-function gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 23k miles. The seller notes that the speedometer reads high and the mileage is inaccurate. The speedometer and tachometer require calibration. The 6.2-liter LS3 V8 crate engine sourced from Turn Key Engine Supply was installed under current ownership and features an LS7 camshaft, dual-inlet custom air intake tube, a Turn Key Engine throttle body, Hooker exhaust headers, and conical air filters. An Entropy aluminum dual-pass radiator, dual electric cooling fans, and a Rick’s Tanks stainless steel fuel tank with an internal electric fuel pump have been installed. Service in March 2023 reportedly included replacing the alternator and changing the oil. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec TKO-600 five-speed manual transmission and a Moser 12-bolt rear axle with a limited-slip differential and 3.55:1 gears. The Tremec PerfectFit kit was sourced from Keisler Engineering. A dual exhaust system with an X-pipe and MagnaFlow mufflers was also fitted. Build invoices totaling more than $62k are shown in the gallery below.
