This 1969 BMW 1600-2 cabriolet was repainted in Turkis Metallic after being acquired by the seller in 2016, reportedly following approximately 23 years of storage. The interior was also refreshed, the brakes were serviced, and the soft top, bumpers, floors, and weatherstripping were replaced. The car is powered by a 1.6L inline-four linked to a four-speed manual transmission, and it is equipped with 13″ turbine-style wheels, a black soft top, low-back front bucket seats, and a push-button AM radio. This 1600 cabriolet is now offered with a clean Texas title in the seller’s name. Cabriolet versions of the 1600 were produced through a collaboration with Baur, and this example is said to have been originally finished in white and was repainted red prior to the seller’s acquisition in 2016. According to the seller, the front fenders and the floor pans were subsequently replaced and the car was repainted in Turkis Metallic. A replacement soft top was also installed, and the bumpers, grilles, right rear window were reportedly replaced at that time, along with weatherstripping for the top, windshield, doors, and trunk. A 1602 badge from a later-model car has been fitted, and the seller notes various paint chips and blemishes. Four-lug 13″ turbine-style wheels wear BMW center caps and were mounted with Kumho Solus TA11 tires under current ownership. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums, and the seller reportedly rebuilt the brake calipers and replaced the brake hoses and front upper strut mounts. The low-back front bucket seats and rear bench were reupholstered in black vinyl under current ownership, and a replacement dashboard and door panels were also installed. An AM push-button radio with a single speaker is housed in the center console, and the seller notes that the heater is inoperative. The three-spoke steering wheel wears an aftermarket cover and fronts VDO instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 13k miles, approximately 8k of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown. The 1.6-liter inline-four sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The seller notes that the hood hardware and foam padding were replaced under current ownership. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery. The Texas title lists “VIN Certification Waived” under the Remarks section.
