This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro convertible is equipped with the Z11 option, which specified RS and SS equipment as well as trim in the style of the Camaro pace car used at the 1969 Indianapolis 500. The car is powered by a 396ci Turbo-Jet V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and it is finished in Dover White with Hugger Orange stripes over orange houndstooth upholstery. Additional equipment includes a Positraction rear axle, 14″ Rally-style wheels, front disc brakes, a power-operated white convertible top, front and rear spoilers, an Endura front bumper, a cowl-induction hood, and a Hurst shifter. The car was said to have undergone refurbishment before being acquired by the seller 30 years ago in California from the U.S. Camaro Club. This Camaro Z11 Pace Car convertible is now offered on behalf of the current owner with service records, literature, and a clean California title. The Z11 package was introduced in early 1969 to outfit a limited run of production convertibles with trim replicating that of the official pace cars built for the 53rd Indianapolis 500. Fewer than 3,700 cars were sold with the option, all finished in Dover White with Z28-style stripes in Hugger Orange. This example was said to have been repainted in the early 1990s under previous ownership and features orange pinstripes around the front and rear wheel arches. Exterior equipment includes a power-operated white soft top, hideaway headlights, a cowl-induction hood, front and rear spoilers, an Endura front bumper, a chrome rear bumper, and dual exhaust outlets. The 14″ Rally wheels wear chrome center caps and trim rings and are mounted with reproduction F70-14 Goodyear Polyglas white-letter tires. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The cabin features high-back front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in orange vinyl with houndstooth cloth inserts. Additional equipment includes woodgrain dashboard and steering wheel trim, black carpets, a Hurst shifter, and an inoperable push-button radio. The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, 7k-rpm tachometer, and an insert clock. Additional gauges monitoring amperage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are housed in the center console. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 90k miles. The 396ci Turbo-Jet V8 was factory rated at 325 horsepower and sends power to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt Positraction rear axle. The battery was replaced in April 2022. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the image gallery.
