1969 Ford Mustang New Lime Convertible

Especially notable for this car is the rare paint color “NEW LIME” of which only 310 were produced with the Dark Ivy Gold interior.  The current 62,371 mileage is original:  this Mustang was rust free with 50K mileage when purchased in 2004 from Kansas owner.   A down-to-bare-metal restoration began in 2005 and was completed in 2012.  This car has been restored as a mild “RESTOMOD” which means the body and interior have been restored to original appearance with upgrades to the drive train and suspension.  It earned an MCA National Gold award with in Modified Driven class. 
  

Original 302 cubic inch ‘F’ code 2 bbl. engine block has been upgraded to Multiport Fuel Injection using the Holley EFI computer management system.  The intake is an Edelbrock Air-Gap manifold custom machined for the multi-port injectors.  Valve train is roller lifter & rocker assembly. The distributor is a Ford TFI unit with built in ignition timing controlled by the EFI system. The ProComp 175cc aluminum heads are ported and polished for maximum efficiency.  This engine dyno’d at 287 hp / 281 Ft-# – an improvement from the original factory 210 hp.  Engine and transmission cooling utilize a 24” Griffin Aluminum radiator.
 

The original C-4 3-speed transmission has been upgraded to a Ford Automatic Overdrive (AOD) 4-spd transmission.  The 8” rear axle has been upgraded to Trac-Lok 3:55 gearing.  With the AOD 4th gear ratio of .67; 70 mph is approx. 2200 rpm.  (16+mph city; approx. 24+/- mph Hwy).  14” Magnum 500 wheels with 205/17R14 BF Goodrich tires.
  

The original ram cylinder power steering setup has been upgraded to a Steeroids (Speed Direct) Rack and Pinion system with 2 ½ turns lock to lock.  Exhaust is a 2 ½” Magna Flow stainless steel dual exhaust system customized to fit Headman Jr headers and allow clearance of the wider AOD transmission and the rack and pinion steering system.
  

The headlights have been upgraded to HID lamps using a 4-relay wiring system.  The rear brake / turn signal taillights are LED sequential lamps with LED front parking / turn signal lamps.  The taillights are approximately 10X brighter than the original factory lamp bulbs.  Interior dash and footwell lighting are LED.  Electrical systems supplied via 100 amp one-wire alternator.
  

The convertible unibody has been strengthened with Global West sub-frame connectors specific for this body.  Body flex has been reduced by approximately 70% +.  The front suspension upper control arms have a 1” ‘Arning’ drop (used on 65-66 Shelby mustangs) to improve handling and response & is equipped with GW heim-joint adjustable front strut rods and 1-1/8th sway bar with poly bushings.  The original front manual drum brakes have been upgraded to Kelsey-Hayes style stainless power disk brakes using EBC ‘Green’ brake pads  
  

The fuel system is a custom supply and return for the fuel injection setup with a Holley EFI Sniper 22-gal fuel tank with internal 45 psi fuel pump and sending unit.  The system features a trunk mounted inertia cut-off switch for the fuel pump.
  

Seats are TMI Sport Series II enhanced bolstered upholstery in factory pattern Dark Ivy Gold. The original door track glued window glass has been replaced with 1970 bolt-in style NOS glass.  Dynamat Extreme sound and heat insulation installed from top of front firewall to top of rear seatback.  The vinyl convertible top with rear glass window is a premium Electron.  

 

This vehicle is located in Buffalo, NY.  It is strongly recommended an ‘in person’ inspection by all prospective buyers either personally or by an accredited vehicle appraiser / inspector familiar with vintage mustangs.  The sale will be “AS-IS ‘condition.  All transportation will be the responsibility of the buyer.   The NYS Registration transferring ownership will be furnished only after full payment is made and secured.
